I was thinking about the possibiliy of printing my information on the face of a bridge blank faced Bicycle deck. I asked the copy shops around and they saw the finish cant be printed on. Does anyone know a way around this or someone who can do this?

The problem with printing on playing cards, for most quick print and copy shops, is that the finish of the blank card is plastic-coated. That would not be a problem with a "pad printer" and an appropriate ink for plastic surfaces. You can certainly go to several places to get custom artwork printed on playing cards. Haines House of Cards does this kind of work. (I'm not sure which process they use.)The challenge may be set-up charges and quantities. How many decks do you want to buy? Some printers require a certain minimum amount, and charge per deck. PM me if I can help.

I would just want a few decks - no more than 10. That would be 520 business cards and they would last a long time. So, if that could be done, it would be awesome. Is there a number of minimal decks from Hanes? Any other places?

I popped into the Copy Shop in town and asked them. The guy said $6 per deck. That makes a pricey business card, but they are still very cool. So, I'll just get a few decks because I'll be moving soon. Thanks for all the help. The magic word was 'Pad Printing'. Thanks Victor.

If you ever want to print a simple picture, say a cartoon, on playing cards, you can get respectable results with a machine called Print Gocco.
I did some for a magician in Sydney some years ago and he said they lasted a couple of years. I do not have time to do any for anyone these days, sorry, but would be happy to answer any related questions (if I can) by email. mcafe@ezyebook.com

It's a bit expensive but http://www.gemacocards.com/ custom prints decks.Minimum custom card order is 50 decks.
The U.S. Playing Card Company http://www.usplayingcardco.com/ does custom decks as well but their minimum order is 10,000 decks.

The easiest way to do it is to purchase blank backed cards and then go have some clear stickers printed with your information on them. It is not expensive to have done either. Then peel off the stickers and place them on the backs of the cards. Works like a charm and looks exactly as a business card for amagician should.

I like the sticker idea.
You can even incorporate the sticker into the effect. It could be stuck on the back of the selected card for the finish. FYI there's a pretty healthy thread on a very similar topic in The Workshop. Here's a link. http://www.themagiccafe.com/archive1/vie......forum=26

I've found that if you take a Magic Rub eraser and rub the area you plan on printing it it helps remove some of the finish. That way you can just tape the card to a piece of paper and run it through your laser printer. Its quite a bit of work though. I also hear that giving a card a coat of roughing spray will do the trick.
