I'm a long standing member of the London Society of Magicians and enter most competitions. To my surprise have won a few.
I don't enter expecting to win, merely to practice my Art as a 'hobbyist'. I ensure that my programme is varied and ensure the table is cleared after each effect, before proceeding. It can be disconcerting watching those who allow clutter to gather in their performing area - it looks messy and is distracting. |

Fu Manchu (David Bamberg) wrote a great article in "Greater Magic" about an uncluttered stage! Of course, it takes planning & blocking! Too many amateurs, and, a few professionals, never read Bamberg's "essay"!
