A great early kick off to the event last night with about 35-40 or so people - if I might say rather peculiar people - attending Christopher Taylor's billet index lecture, which was well worth the cost of admission. I learnt a lot a took away some great new ideas to play with.
After this Vince Wilson regaled us with stories of murder and mystery taking us on a voyage across time and space and the ocean aboard the fated RMS Titanic. This ended just before midnight when about half the group went to bed and the rest, about 35 or so people, joined together with Vince to conduct a midnight seance to contact the spirit of the Black Dalia, Elizabeth Short. The evening was ended with a discussion on the psychological seance which was very informative. Just about to head out to the dealer room then will be attending the Aiden Sinclair lecture. If I get time I'll report back later but I'm trying to squeeze a massage in too so it may be in the morrow.

Thanks, Silvertongue! Already sounds awesome, and it has barely begun!
Wow—they didn’t offer massages last year, or I would have jumped on it! Who’s giving them... Vlad? Slim? Seth |

Quick update for everyone:
ECSS is very busy as usual this year. Lot's of things to see and do. Last night was the evening show. It was the best show to date. EVERYONE killed. Starts out with a great presentation by David Parr on Politics! 18 century politics, complete with poison cups. Next up Zeke powers with his high energy. Zeke did a great routine with some dead chickens. Chris Taylor had a wonderful story of schoolchildren and a curse. Evil Dan brought the crowd to disgust with his dead flies. Simply wonderful. E.R. Perkins closed up the show with a GREAT presentation. His character is perfect and was a huge hit. Sorry so short, but I just had to say what an excellent show it was by all performers! |

I feel compelled to publicly apologize to Vince Wilson for my epic flub at playing the instant stooge during his Screaming Goat presentation. If I cost you the trophy, I am truly sorry, but still laughing. I applaud you sir.

Many thanks to all that made the event the best one yet
to all the performers that dedicated their time, the Dealers, lecturers Steve Gibson Rich L, the Blackswords, Nobody Jones , Patricia Gibson, Daniel Greenwolf ,Mary and the ever present lenny (and anyone the worked so hard on this one, I may have missed) and to all that came (we would just be having a meeting without you) if I missed talking to you at the convention I'm sorry but know that it meant a lot to me that you were there

I do not know how ECSS manages to get better every year. The first ECSS was just remarkable, wonderful, and marvelous, but it really has improved each and every year. I add my thanks to everyone Vlad mentioned (as well as the Vamp himself).
Some highlights for me (among so very many extraordinary moments, meetings and presentations--and besides seeing so many dear friends again from so many points of the compass) include our celebrity presenter, David Parr, who was not only a brilliant performer but was also a genuine gentleman; E.R. Perkins and Sylvia Septre who between them demonstrated a level of artistry and excellence that one would certainly pay a separate admission to witness (superb!); Vlad's parlour show (what joy to sit at the same table with such powerhouses as Vlad, Perkins, Paul Prater, and Vince Wilson--a noble gathering indeed!); and the all-female presentation (a special treat because the women went 'old school' and astonished one and all with carnival acts (The Indestructible Woman, no less!, who walked barefoot on broken glass, lay on a bed of nails while having a cinder block broken over her with a sledgehammer), a cups-and-balls tribute to all the magicians that we have lost this past year (with dulcet, yearning-and-sincere, nightingale tones that dampened more than one eye in the house), and the rare delight of witnessing a Georgia Magnet presentation par excellence! I have long wished to see such a demonstration (having only ever read the historical descriptions), and the presentation which we were privileged to see did not disappoint. Fabulous!) Rob's pins set a new (and stellar) standard in ECSS mementos--simply beautiful collectors' items. Jim Kleeefeld's send-up of the bizarrist approach to standard magic was satire worthy of Jonathan Swift. And so very, very much more--extraordinary dealer's room--many other fine performances--and--well, you just should have been there. Next year cannot *possibly* top ECSSIV . . . but it probably will somehow. Thanks to all the organisers. BC

Pizpor, thank you for that! However, I think the show was even better for it! No apologies needed at all. You're a good guy and I was not honestly upset for an attosecond.
It was a marvelous event and I can't wait until next year! If not sooner...
