Gee, will he still appear in America this summer at the conventions? Most people have to take a year to recover.
He is my favorite performer and the ideas he has given us are gold. I am very sorry to hear he is ill. |

Dear wmhegbli,
Thank you SOOO much for your concern and kind words. I shall be speaking to Ali (please God!) tomorrow and will tell him of the kindest of his American friends. UPDATE Ali has come out of his operation successfully and should be back on the ward tomorrow.

I haven't spoken to him yet as he is still in Intensive Care.
Hopefully, he'll be back on the ward tomorrow and able to see visitors. I'm hoping to go in on Friday.

For over twenty five years that name has been associated with good things. A great reputation as a performer... and those items from the Ken Brooke catalog. Best wishes from NY.

Marshall,
Philosophically and emotionally, his heart is perfect but physically it has a valve problem. But it appears that the worst is over. Here's hoping he makes a full recovery.

Ali has always been just a pleasure to work with on stage and backstage. He is the consummate pro.
A couple of years ago he did a bit an Abbott's that required rigging up a can in the rafters. I worked it out as that was my job and he was kind enough to recognize me from the stage. Hopefully, he will be well enough for FFFF but if not I fully expect to see him this summer. Please pass my very best wishes along to him.

My family and I will pray for Ali's rapid recovery. I used to attend the Larson brothers' annual 'It's Magic!' show in Los Angeles. Every year I would drive down and see the greatest acts. It's been over 25 years now, and most of the acts I've forgotten save a few.
Ali's act is one of those that I will never forget. He truly is the consummate performer. At the time, I never dreamed that I would work out variations of his marketed effects to become major effects for my act. I and so many others owe him so much. Give him our love and respect and well wishes. Steven

Ali visited Japan very often and has made many friends. Mr.Maric is one of good friends of Ali, and he asked me to forward his sincere prayer for Ali's earliest recovery. I am also praying for Ali.

Dear Pete and All,
Thank you so very much for your kind words. Ali is a little better today and is now back on the ward. Hurray! I should see him tomorrow if all goes well - if not, then definitely Monday. I'm in constant touch with his sister Jasmine. I'll keep you all posted.

Well, as of today (Wednesday), Ali is still doing "really well" but the hospital would like to keep him in for a bit longer.
Ali has already made several suggestions as to how our National Health Service could improve their services and facilities.. He thanks everyone for their kind wishes and knows you understand that he won't be able to thank you all personally.
Warmest regards

Jim,
Having Ali thank us personally is not necessary, we just hope he comes thru with flying British Colors. We here in America have heard of your National Health Service. The problems has been a major thing that keeps the U.S. from adopting anything near it. So 40% of Americans go without any health coverage. We just file Bankruptcy when we have major health expenses, if charities cannot cover the expense. That is the American way. |

Dear wmhegbli (what is your name, BTW?),
Thanks for your comments. It's not all doom & gloom, the NHS is very good and most people would rather be in their hands than a private hospital if you've got anything really wrong with you. I've just spoken to Ali today. He is home now and really coming on well. He sounds a little breathless but underneath he's the old Ali. Again, he thanks you all for your kindness. He says he won't be going to FFFF but will try to get to IBM Cleveland in the summer, though he won't perform or lecture. Anyway, great news all round!!!
Warmest regards
