That's great, I didn't expect an answer that would put me at ease like that..
Well it looks like I'm deffo ordering, and perhaps after receiving the book I'll PM you for your take on the effect, if you don't mind. Thanks again Madison. |

His phone pin divinations are also very very very good. There's also a ACAAN that hits quite often that I use (fateCANN). These are all invaluable miracles IMHO which are as close to the real thing as currently possible (pretty much entirely propless besides fateCANN which I do as he taught on his Penguin Lecture 2 with the kicker ending). |

Since it went for printing, I also thought of a new presentational angle for this that ties in the different parts of the routine. If you do get it Tom, feel free to get in touch when it lands and I'll tell you about it.

(Just in case you haven't followed the rest of this thread - I was the editor and proofreader, and also responsible for the layout. And I promise for everyone else not to keep mentioning it!)

Looking forward to hearing the different presentation approaches. Sounds like having a few in your locker would be a good option. Play it by ear and roll out the best one based on your audience.

You're free to hold whatever view you want, and I won't pass comment on Pete's methods (particularly not on an open forum). This thread is about IS3, and those who have seen it so far can confirm that the ideas contained in it are reliable, with a guaranteed outcome, and all of the people I have seen it performed to were left fully fooled and impressed by it. There will be many more soon who will also attest to that. It's up to you whether you're one of them, but there should be no doubt in people's minds that they are buying something well thought through and impressive. As I've said before, I can lay no claim to being unbiased on this, but I would hate to see anyone's personal opinion regarding Pete (or their view on what they consider to be some of his methodology) detract from a routine that has much more to offer than that.

Juno How - I've only got a rough idea as it's not my area. I do know that the artwork that needed redoing in higher resolution is finished, which was the final thing along with the cover design but everything is complete and there won't be any further changes. It's with the print team and I don't think that's a long process, so it's almost there. I'll be as excited as you are to see the final printed version!

What Pete may do at conventions when he is jazzing and having a laugh with magicians (and often when having had a fair bit of alcohol) and what Pete performs in the real world for real people are very very different. When I first met Pete some 5 years or so back I was very dubious about this young kids reputation and I assumed it had been manufactured and hyped. Surely this 25 year old kid could not really be the phenominum that he is reported to be.
When I finally met him in person the first thing he did was his ACAAN with my own deck, still in the box that never even came out of the box until I named the card and the number and I dealt down to the card and it was the card I named. I don't think I have ever been more gobsmacked in my entire 40+ years in magic and I have sessioned with Roberto Giobbi, Kevin Reay, Michael Vincent, Bobby Bernard, Harry Baron and many other extremely talented magicians so my gob has been smacked around a lot over the years. He then did his billetless name guess which feels as real as you can possibly get, he followed up with his billetless pin guess. So within 15 minutes he has performed the cleanest ACAAN I am ever going to see, he has revealed a name I am only thinking of with zero apparent fishing, then revealed my pin with nothing written down and I haven't used the card for him to surf it. I most certainly wasn't a stooge but had I witnessed it rather than experience it stooge would be the only method I could offer. He then taught me every effect in Bigger Fish 2 and share several unpublished bits and pieces. I walked away from that meeting satisfied that he is the real deal. Since then we became good friends and I have seen him perform a lot for laymen and I have seen few that can work a room as well as Pete, usually using pretty solid methods but peppered with what he refers to as sprinklers, these tend to be the bolder bits where he will throw something out and capitalise on it if it hits or wash it away if it doesn't. He is no more of a con man than we are all con men, he will claim credit for a happy accident and squeeze more out of it than most and will convince you that you have a completely free choice when in reality you have two options. But when it comes to delivering the goods he does so in spades. At Minds this year they had an open mic night on the Saturday night. The audience was comprised of around 100 mentalists including guys like Paul Brook, Doug Dyment and a relative who's who of mentalists. The performers in this open mic night included greats like John Archer and Manos and many greats (even an amazing drawing duplication by the great Chandini ). At the end of this open mic Pete (who wasn't on the bill) was asked to do something and he completely captivated the room, he absolutely held 100 mentalists in the palm of his hands with his take on OOTW where two spectators shuffle the deck (and neither are stooges). After the performance I turned to young Tom Bennett and said "That's why he is Pete Turner". Incidentally Michael Murray then followed up with a fantastic performance of his latest incarnation of tattle tailed despite having consumed enough alcohol to floor an elephant. Over the last 5 years I have seen Pete's thinking mature and change and I may have even had an influence on it in some cases. Pete is still an absolute master at scripting but method wise he leans far more towards clever but sure fire than the bolder methods of his past, in performance he is still bold but usually backed up by a strong but clever method. When it comes to IS 3 the method is solid, I would say in many ways as solid as Ophiuchus despite that effect being semi automatic and pretty much 100%. Sure it requires a little more thinking on your feet and a bit more memory work but the payoff is worth it. Sure there is a chance of a slight miss on one element but you will always nail the birthday. When it comes to reviews I ALWAYS call it as I see it, read my review of Phill Smiths birthday/diary effect if you don't believe me, Phill is a very good friend and also someone I owe an unplayable debt to for making both Harpacrown and Ophiuchus gorgeous as well as designing my business cards and actually helping me bring Ophiuchus to market but my review of his effect (it begins with a P but the name escapes me right now) was completely balanced and covered the bad as well as the good. I have also posted negative reviews of some of Pete's work such as Mind Plant that I am not a fan of. IS 3 I am a fan of, funny enough I have often tweaked some of Pete's material to remove the bolder bits and make them sure fire, and Pete has often included my tweaks in his books. Beyond the part I played in helping Pete solve the one thing he wasn't happy with while we were in Dublin I will not touch this at all but rather will perform it exactly as taught. Mark |

Just KILLED with this at a party. I had shown several mind reading demonstrations (including MindPeek from Proteus) and this was incredibly well received.
This is definitely staying in my back pocket. Madison |

On no Pete! Guess you should hang it all up now.
Obviously, now that I know you bring nothing new to the table, we must break up lol. Thank God my eyes have been opened. 252FarewellOldFriend :)

Yeah mate. I'm sick of being taken in by your things that can't be explained. Sick of feeling that the only explanation is that I am a stooge, even when you didn't tell me and I was as impressed as everyone else. I'm sick of your propless work that doesn't constantly fail. Pete it's just not right and I'm going back to my life before I learned IS3. I'm just not used to people thinking I'm good. Each to their own. ☺

Joking aside I can admire the thinking and I have seen the progression but there are some mentalists I personally would leave, so I respect the personal preference.

I just witnessed Peter in a lecture he did in israel.
He did IS3 on me and I was flabbergasted. This is THE BEST METHOD I have ever seen. this is the closest it gets to real time mind reading. honestly, without saying anything suspicious he managed to get my zodiac sign, D.o.B AND a name I was thinking off. without writing or saying anything that could give it away. really. every single product ive seen of peter has yet to fail my expectations. this is not a single fake description or idontknow. everything written is what you get, even if I don't use some of the stuff as they're too bold or risky for my style, I enjoy and most off all I LEARN a lot from his way of thinking. such a unique style and work. just amazing. Ill probably buy it soon, (since the too much purchases I have made in the last month.) BUT! I'm wondering, possible to translate it to another language with some work? I'm quite certain its possible, just want to make sure if you think its doable Pete. btw, until when is the pre order counts? I'd like to purchase it before the offer of bonus routine and subtleties is taken away Thanks again. |
