Seems more like a website you save to your home screen (that requires a license). I have a ridiculously old operating system and am still able to run it (note: my calc font appears different because of this). |

Hey Guys,
We're making a bug list over on our Facebook group Search 'Cipher App' and you should be able to request membership on there. That way we can get any issues addressed. So far there seems to be issues with people not being able to change Day/Month around to American date formats. This can be rectified for now by just performing it Day/Month and not Month/Day. Also users with iPhone SE are noticing issues with retrieving 6 digit pins or having the star sign reveal cut off slightly in the bottom left corner. We can fix this easy. Any more, add them to the FB group and we'll get them all fixed this week Cheers, - G |

I love the distribution model of this app.
What a great way to not pay Apple 30%. I also love Ellusionist's amazing marketing campaign. Greg |

MagiCalc doesn't appear to do the most important function of Cipher....
Also - I'm not really concerned about Apple's cut (they have plenty), as long as it looks and functions exactly like any other app (which it does).

Greg I was referring to the business model * not loosing 30% margin is a smart move
Regarding MagCalc it's not the same I think... MagCalc besides not being available, I did a search but not sure, Cipher is way different. MagCalc perhaps is/was a Toxic gimmick app version as I'm right? |

Some of us aren't really iOS users.
Sounds great that they're considering programming it for Android. Andreu. |

I really hope the Android version goes through the Play Store simply because of updates. Even if all current bugs are resolved, you never know what happens when Android upgrades and seamless update will make this very easy (and easy to use). If not, then I hope there is a proper way to be notified about updates to the apk. And please make it an apk and not a "website you save to your home screen". Android is easy to sideload as opposed to iOS.
Keep up the good work guys! |

Fake calculator apps have been around since the dawn of cell phones.
MagiCalc is one of many apps that have been released on iOS, Android, and older platforms ... Alan Rorrison has a great one in one of his apps. I'm very happy that Cipher has updated this idea, and I wish everyone great success with it. I applaud Ellusionist for giving this old (perhaps not so widely known) idea a new life. Greg |

I recognize the advantages that this app offers over other fake calculator apps.
As others have commented on this thread, my reluctance in using Cipher (or IUYM for that matter) is the spectator is inputting their information on the magician's phone (which they give back to him/her). Greg |

On Jul 10, 2017, Greg Rostami wrote: Hey Greg! Thanks for taking part in the conversation I understand your reluctance but I can assure you, that this is magicians guilt playing tricks on your brain. I've been using this since last year and people just don't back track it. A big part of this is due to the calculator being Cleared by them multiple times. But also by clarifying with them before you reveal the information that they agree that you couldn't know what their pin/star sign/birthdate etc. could be. In the performances from Ryan, he performs very clearly, concisely and gives them time to think twice about whether he could know the information or not. You can genuinely see them thinking for an extra beat before admitting that they know he couldn't know the information. My friend Ben Allen also shared, in the Facebook Group, a fantastic and practical idea which makes them truly believe the calculator isn't part of the method. I've tried it out since he came up with it and there's no going back. I do empathise with you though, as I used to feel exactly the same with Billet work. I used to think 'They've given away the information from inside their head so surely they'll put two and two together". Of course, we all know it's just not the case. The same is for Cipher except there are more layers of deception at play. Hence, the wild reactions it constantly gets. To make it even more dumbfounding, when performer use a trick or two as time misdirection, then there's no hope for the spectators to figure it out. All the best |

I just installed Cipher on my iPhone. It works fine and is easy to set up but it is a bit rough in places. No doubt it will become more polished as they refine it? Anyway, the main point is that it takes minutes to learn and I'll be out using it for real this evening.

A lot of the bugs are being fixed today and pushed out in an automatic update. By quitting the app and starting it again it'll update automatically.
We'll keep you posted on here when we've done that. Thanks for your support all! - G |

Just bought this. Great idea but it is FULL of bugs.
The calculator can't perform basic operations. It does operations like: 2154x6=54 or 5416x5516=48, it's horrible. You can't type more than 4 digits in the calculator, the numbers disappear! Some star signs appear almost out of the screen, you can't read it. The worst thing is the calculator not working like a normal one. Come on guys, I'm not a programmer but wouldn't that be the easiest part? Like getting it to behave like a normal calculator, being able to type more than 4 digits and getting the basic calculations right... You have major work to do here, so far, by going through the app, this looks like a super buggy beta version. No way I would perform with this as it is right now, it would be suicide. I have an original iphone 5, fully working and updated. |
