Please post some "antique" music here.
Here's a song whose chorus I was introduced to by the Waltons. They sang several of these melodious tunes. Here's the Haydn Quartet with Put on Your old Grey Bonnet: http://www.allaboutthewaltons.com/music1.php |

Repro but still

Repro's o.k., tommy. But some of those actors aren't much for piano playing, are they? Fun clip, thanks.
As a matter of fact, we just had a dueling piano bar open here, recently. I haven't stepped inside yet, but hearing from some who have, I might just be qualified to do so. Apparently they could use someone who can sing. |

Magic of old music Cab Calloway is one of my favourites. How old is antique?

I've seen that clip before, thanks for posting it here. Antique is usually 100 years or older. Anything in Public Domain is really what I'm looking for as I'm looking for music to perform publicly. So, this thread serves a dual purpose, or more.
In the last year or so, the library helmed a project to provide a music-loaded ipod to each resident of the Grove Nursing Home here in Arnprior. From what I've heard, it's been very successful. |

Elvis sang some good old songs, “Dixieland” and “Danny Boy” spring to mind.
As a betting man; Camptown Races.

Public domain songs or performances?
Here's a very much alive Gordon Lightfoot singing a traditional song from Nova Scotia.

Public Domain songs, please (US published 1921 and earlier). If you have a performance of it, that's great, too, especially for the older, rarer tunes I may not have heard previously. I'm selecting music to perform acoustically in public- guitar & singing.
My selected list so far includes: Daisy Bell 1894 recording of Daisy Bell By the Light of the Silvery Moon 1909 Shenandoah I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen 1875 Old Dan Tucker 1843 Carry Me Back to Old Virginny 1878 Put on Your Old Grey Bonnet 1909 Moonlight Bay 1912 Red River Valley It's a Long Way to Tipperary 1912 Let Me Call You Sweetheart 1910 Beautiful Dreamer 1864 The Spinning Wheel Song (Waller) In The Good Old Summertime 1902 When Irish Eyes Are Smiling 1912 Danny Boy 1913 Irish Lullaby (To Ra Loo Ra Loo Rall) 1913 The Last Rose of Summer 1813 Rosin the Bow 1838 |

Here is a site dedicated to finding public domain music, you should find all the music you need here:
http://www.pdinfo.com/pd-music-genres/pd-popular-songs.php My personal favorite public domain song would be "When Johnny Comes Marching Home"; usually thought of as a Southern Civil War song, it was actually written by a Union Officer who went on to organize peace festivals after the war: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNVebqXn-U8 -JoeJoe

I don't know if you saw these.
http://www.pdinfo.com/ http://freemusicarchive.org/member/cheye......in_Songs http://www.freemusicpublicdomain.com/ They seem to be the biggest. Me? I couldn't carry a tune if I had a fork lift.

I looked at the PD Info link and the first thing that popped up was;
http://www.pdinfo.com/copyright-law/publ......ings.php Sound recordings of public domain songs are not in and of themselves "public domain." You either have to make your OWN recording of the public domain piece or pay for the use of the recording.

That is correct, Ed. Sadly, very few people understand that.
