Hey folks,
I just saw this effect, MONEYMORPHOSIS, on Vanishing Inc's. website. Surprisingly, I don't see any mention of it here in the Magic Café. Has anyone purchased this? Any reviews on this? https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic/......rphosis/ Roberto

This really does look super visual. Any idea if this can be done with plastic bills? Not sure if you could pre-iron them?
Any advice would be much appreciated as I would love to try this out, but where I live we only have plastic bills. |

The trick will definitely work with plastic bills if you crease them. The trick is making the bill not look creased before you do the fold. Decent audience management and the fact that they don't know what's going to happen should make that possible.

I bought it. You need a bill that's not too old not too new. The creator advocates IT which I find a pain in the ass and you break the thread to give out the bill so to repeat will need to have several set ups. Otherwise it is what it looks like an origami butterfly thst these guys have figured out how to thread so that it works like a self folding bill.

I should add the process to make one is not difficult or lengthy but my eyesight isn't great and don't love working with IT. I suspect you could make with with thicker thread but would have more trouble breaking for the handout. Also will add the IT which they send you a spool of is just fine regular thread it's not as thin or delicate as the thread you would use for say Hover card

I have a folding bill made up from years ago with Catgut ( Fishing Line) I always performed the trick then put it away . If the spectator asked to see the bill I handed out a regular folded bill from the same pocket I put the gimmick bill away after it magically folded itself .

That is how I might do it tophatter. Another suggestion is given in the download. Part of the beauty of this effect is the butterfly folds and then you hand it out directly as a souvenir.

Title: Moneymorphosis Creator: Dallas Fueston and Jason Bird Publisher: Vanishing Inc. MSRP: $ 20 Skill Level: Video Run time: 30 minutes Type of effect: Self folding bill Manufacturer's Write Up: This is, quite simply, one of the most impactful, poetic effects Vanishing Inc. has ever produced. A borrowed bill self-animates and crawls up your arm like a caterpillar. Then, it transforms into an origami butterfly! The folded butterfly can be immediately handed back to the spectator as a souvenir of an unforgettable magical experience. The best part is that the effect is practical. You can perform it surrounded, and although it uses threads, the approach is entirely workable and easy to manage, and can be mastered within minutes. Moneymorphosis is taught in detail on a video download of 29 minutes. This is the best self-folding bill ever devised, and is NOT something other magicians are doing. Get yours today... and add a transformational effect to your repertoire. How accurate is the ad copy? A borrowed bill? Sure, anything is possible with a switch. What's in the box? Strong material and the download code for the video and a pdf template Key points: You will need to provide your own bill. How are the production values: Filmed well, good close ups and the audio is clear. Everything is shot against a black back drop for clarity. It does have repetitive background music. Is it well made: You make it yourself. Is it well taught: The beginning is mostly learning how to fold an origami butterfly with a dollar bill. (this is your only setup) There is a tutorial on how to perform the effect and then a bonus handling at the end on how to make the butterfly … fly. Storage? Does it "pack flat?" As flat as a folded bill…. and some other stuff Does it “play big?” Things that fly or self-animate always play well with audiences. Difficulty / Skill level required: Very similar to the traditional self-folding bill. (classic Stephen Schutzer ) Once you do your set up the performance is easy. How much arts and crafts are involved? You will need to “build” all of this from scratch, although it’s very little actual arts or crafts. (and build a new one for each subsequent performance) How practical is this in the real world? (can it really be done?) Plays well surrounded Overall score: let's toss out the traditional score of 1-10 and make this something that we all can appreciate and understand. _____ Very Satisfied __X__ Somewhat Satisfied _____ Neither Satisfied or Dissatisfied _____ Somewhat Dissatisfied _____ Very Dissatisfied _____ No Opinion My thoughts: It’s a good trick, not overpriced at $20 considering you get materials and a well done video. |

Just ordered mine!
This looks so beautiful and me mind is already spinning about other possibilities with this... Is it possible to make a few gimmicks and stash them in a close-up case/pocket for walk-around? |

Anyone who has this and can do the pre-fold, please contact me. I followed the video with excruciating exactness, and I am sure that I have it folded exactly the way he demonstrates. But when the video then cuts to the next chapter, which shows how to thread the bill, he is holding a bill that is folded entirely differently! I mean, instead of Washington being on the inside, his face is on the outside, and everything is somehow reversed. If you are "in the know" about how to do this, I would appreciate a PM or a response. Thanks.

Never mind guys, I got it figured out. I don't know why, but on the DVD they demonstrate the folding in reverse to the way it needs to be done in order to follow the threading.

It is a more challenging complicated set up than a standard folding bill and you destroy the setup if you want hand it out. For these reasons I don’t think they s a worker for professionals and perhaps too much trouble for amateurs. If someone other than the creator is using w regularly they should weigh in
