Blue Gaffed Deck aka Elite Gaff Deck (Magic Makers)

The brilliant deck that comes with the Packet Killer DVD

The Deck

The Blue Gaff Deck was put out by Magic Makers as a collection of assorted gaffed cards that can be used to perform a wide range of packet effects. Note that this is a different deck than one put out by Ellusionist with a similar name (link). The Magic Makers deck is a pretty decent mix of gimmicked cards, and with this deck you'll have all the gimmicked cards you need to perform a wide range of the most popular packet effects like Wild Card, MacDonald's Aces, and Twisted Sisters, and also included are the gimmicked cards for doing Ultimate 3 Card Monte and more. There's also a number of utility cards like double backers and double facers, blank cards, and some miscellaneous gaffs (e.g. partial red back on blue back, multiple cards printed on a single card, half 7 clubs & five hearts on face). So lots of possibilities!

The Instructions

Well there aren't any if you buy the deck on its own as a stand-alone item. When Magic Makers first released this, they sold it just as a stand-alone utility deck, without any video or instructions. However they did make a free PDF available with some routine ideas and suggested effects. You can find that instruction set on their website here, or when you google "Blue Gaff Deck 0641". It includes ten pages of instructions for tricks like Parade of the Kings, Princess Cards, Million Dollar Monte, Wild Card, and several more.

The Alternatives

Magic Makers later produced an instructional DVD for the Blue Gaff Deck, and from then on they sold the deck along with the DVD under the name "Packet Killer". The DVD is terrific, and features Simon Lovell, and he explains more than 40 different tricks. He's a wonderful (and humorous) teacher, and runs you through all the classic effects you can perform with the cards in this deck, including all the ones I've mentioned. Another option is to get Magic Makers Ultimate Gaff Deck Kit, but that has a slightly different set of gaffs, and the video isn't as good as Packet Killer. If you can, I'd recommend not buying the Blue Gaff Deck separately, but do yourself a favour and get Packet Killer instead, which gives you the deck plus the excellent instructional video.
