I find myself performing magic standing up more and more and very seldom with a surface to count coins onto, deal cards onto etc etc.

I'd be interested to hear everyone's Top 5 Standing Up Effects Without Huge Props & Gaffes. For what it's worth, here are mine:

1. TT cig in jacket
2. Hopping Halves/coin flurry
3. 2-card Monte
4. Ambitious Card
5. In-hand copper-silver transpo

Linking safety pins.

My fingers hurt really bad after practicing for like a few hours so I stopped doing it.

I almost never have a working surface. Here's what I use:

Sponge Balls/Bunnies (working from a spectators hand or tucking the sponges behind my lapel)

Ring and String

Mismade Bill

Sun and Moon

Homing Card (Stars of Magic)/Card to Wallet

Think A Card (Mark Mason)

Okay, so that's more than 5.

Most rope tricks don't need a table surface:
Cut and restored (George Sands' version)
Professor's Nightmare
Rigid Rope
Two others.
There, that makes five! Smile
cheers,

Enco,

There is no finger strain at all with the Garret version.

I have a book by Karl Fulves "self-working table magic", but the tricks are by Tom Ellis, Don White, Jerry Andrus, Richard Durham.

- swindle pins
- impossible unlink
- repeat impossibility
- un-safety pins
- quick release
- pin-a-tration
- ultra penetro

The tricks aren't that hard to do but you have to hold those pins between your thumb and first finger. Which is not that easy after a few hours of practicing those tricks.

And I also have two other tricks, first one is "wood through steel", and the other one is "the indestructible handkerchief" , I don't know whose tricks they are.

I can mail you those transcripts if you're interested. PM me.

Hi Ecno,
Well the Dan Garrett version uses Two very large safety Pins which link and unlink and can be handed out for examination at virtualy any time. The routine is called PINDIMONIUM it is in dans "Close up connivery" notes but I prefer to buy it with the pins from Dan. your finger should not ache with this version unless you suffer from athritus or some other medical condition

I use Skinners Pins (and I believe his routine). If you were working on the flicking portion, that could cause some pain Smile
