I just got a new set , and this set " chatters " far more than My old set.The maker has offered to replace it.
But Im on the other side of the World . So a question , is this normal for a mass produced set ?
no point in sending it back if it is the normal standard now.

The Hopping Half set from Johnson is the only one I have used, and it seems to be pretty tight. At least I haven't noticed any significant noise from it. Of course all gaffed coins have some tolerance that can cause some noise but you sound like yours is a bit noisier than normal. If you can get by without spectators noticing it then I would just keep it. If it is not really usable as is then you will have to get it replaced.
