Scott, I totally see what you meant there, presentation should at most serve to put a proper context, not to be copied. But I also would love to see a full performance, even muted on certain parts. That way nobody would be influenced by your personal presentation, but would be able to see your years of experience translated in your interaction with the audience.

Just watched Q&A Evolution again. Man, is it packed with subtleties and insights from someone who has been doing Q&A for 20 years.
Also made up a set of the Evolution cards and have been practicing the moves. It doesn't take long at all to get the moves down smoothly. Everything takes place in your hands, right in front of the audience. And in the case of a one-on-one reading, literally right under their noses. The combination of the Q&A Evolution System cards and the readings framework Scott teaches allows you to do unique, one-on-one readings for one person, or many. The more I work with this system, the more I like it. |

To my mind (and of course I am bias) apart from performing completely cold, it doesn't get much better. Cheers. Scott |

I was impressed with Scott's Hanussen's Demise, but Q&A Evolution blows it away. It's very, very good.

Anyone try this with business card? With one side business card you have half work to do.

First off - I experienced a little hiccup in attempting to download the file (my fault completely) and Scott provided EXCEPTIONAL assistance. (Thanks again Scott!)
Secondly, I just completed my first viewing of the content and I'm EXTREMELY impressed by this system. It's a "WORKER" in every sense of the word! I'll expound on my thoughts once I've spent more time with it (especially with materials in hand). This is typical "Creasey" - if you're a fan of his previous releases this won't disappoint you in the slightest. Best, Drew

I made up a second set of Q&A Evolution cards using extra thick double blank 3 x 5 index card stock. These heavier cards have a nice, substantial feel to them, and are great for handing out at the end.
Regular, thinner 3 x 5 card stock seems to be a little easier to work with, though. Something else I've found useful is to put a piece of tape over the rubber band on the back of the stack. This keeps the band in place when you pull a card out. |

Here's something I don't mention in the DVD.
When I originally started using this idea, I printed the cards using my inkjet printer. They had a picture of me and my name on the front, inside on the left they had the numbers 1-9 and a numerology key word for each, on the other side above the square was a line for a name and one for the D.O.B and on the back were all my contact details. (those with the video will know what I am talking about) I used them like that until one day my printer packed up before a gig so I had to improvise and the result is the cards you see in the video. I have never printed them since. And this is probably a subject for another thread but here is the other reason why I don't print them anymore. I performed the Q&A Evolution a lot in cabaret over an 8 year period (still do although not as often) but when I started with it, I used it three nights a week in three different cabaret clubs every week for the 8 month summer season on the Costa del Sol in Spain, so at a conservative estimate that is approximately 770 performances of Q&A Evolution and 4th Dimensional Telepathy over an 8 year period, on average handing out approximately 20 cards at each performance means I used approximately 15,000 cards over that period. At the end of each night when we were packing up, I used to find dozens of the cards I used discarded, dropped on the floor, drawn on by kids or soaking up the beer from the tables. Some of them were of course kept but many were just thrown, so not printing them saved me a fortune in printer ink. And this experience is one of the reasons I don't use my business cards for doing lots of drawing dupes or word revelations etc. Try it, work a close up table hoping gig but instead of doing your two hours, collecting your fee and leaving, stay until the end of the night when the staff are clearing away and see just how many of those cards you used in your routines are still sitting on the table or being swept up by the cleaners. If someone at the table asks me for a business card I know they are genuinely interested, but often at the end of a close up routine I will actually ask does anybody want a business card in case they wish to visit my website. Otherwise I do all my routines using nothing more than blank cards which I buy cheaply in bulk. Obviously these days there are online companies where you can buy business cards at great prices such as vistaprint so it doesn't break the bank to use them but during a cabaret set I may hand out anything from 15 - 40 cards and I like my business cards to be treated with respect, they are after-all a reflection of my business and it doesn't create a good impression (to my mind) to see some of them discarded or left on tables. Just a thought Regards Scott |

Perhaps in one-on-one readings people would be less inclined to discard the card, keeping it for future reference. Thanks so much for releasing Q&A Evolution, Scott. You consistently release material of the very highest quality. But Q&A Evolution is something very special. If you ever decide to release the remaining 2 hours of footage you have already recorded, I suspect you will have a long line of people eager to buy it. I would happily pay another $40 for Q&A Evolution Part II. |

I see folks telling or suggesting to Scott to perhaps "do it a different way" or debating his way or his rationalization for doing this and not that.

I picked this up finally.
Whether you find it works for you or not, this is clearly very well worked/developed. The construction, routining, and subtleties are all top notch. I am constantly impressed with the amount of things Scott can do with basic stationary, and it's worth it to see his thinking and to see the pieces that come together to make this work. Having said that, this is probably not for me. I think I prefer the more 'bulk' approach where the performer appears to never come any where close to the billets. I also am hesitant to handle a participants card that has only been folded one way. Of course, the rubber band and the handling does negate that you could have peeked it, but it's just one little thing that I don't prefer. But that is just a personal thing - the method/system is very robust and he has clearly worked this thing to a very fine point. It was definitely worth learning.

To me Q&A is the ultimate mentalism routine, and these days I get the feeling many of those who come to my shows sit politely through the minor mentalism effects waiting for the Q&A to start, probably because for many years I've made a feature of it. As a performer I have spent about 30 years now playing with different versions of the Q&A eventually coming up with quite a number of my own handlings, always searching for that elusive Holy Grail. The thing is the Holy Grail of Q&A was right under my nose all along, shoved there again and again by the guys in the know, those who had already been where I was going. After years of working on ways to steal and read questions under the noses of my audience, and to come up with systems I can use on stage, in cabaret or for small groups, constantly striving to get rid of the props, pre-show and the use of stooges, it took until I turned fifty for the penny to finally drop. If like me you have a serious interest in the Q&A then you already know the answer, but I'm sure, just like me, because as mystery performers we love gadgets and clever tricks, we often overlook the simple truth that we've been told a thousand times, which in Q&A is this. ‘It doesn’t matter how you obtain the information, it is how you answer the questions that is important’. I remember about 17 years ago having an email conversation with Ford Kross and he told me "I don't steal questions, I don't have them written down, because by the time I've finished the first part of my act, the audience believe I have a special gift so I simply ask them to call out their questions and I answer them". I thought at the time, what a load of rubbish and actually had the arrogance in 2012 to write this in my book 'My Q&A'. Quote:
‘It doesn’t matter how you obtain the information, it is how you answer the questions that is important’. And at the time I believed it. With experience of course everything changes, so if I can offer up one piece of advice to those who want to get into the Q&A it would be this, and let's not get into a moral debate here, I am talking about in the context of a theatrical setting. Convince your audience using minor mentalism routines that you may just have a special gift and then it doesn’t matter how you obtain the information during your Q&A because it is how you answer the questions that is important. The simple truth is, and it took me a long, long time to realise this, the audience don't care how you know the question, because if you have done your job properly all they want is the answer. Because of this epiphany, three years ago I stood on stage and with (I'm ashamed to admit) no rehearsal and nothing but an idea in my head, performed a 30 min Q&A routine, hot readings not cold. What surprised me was the reaction was the same as I'd always received. As soon as you truly embrace the fact that the audience don't care how you get the questions, the Q&A becomes so organic that sometimes you can almost believe you are doing it for real. I pretty much set myself to know every kind of Q&A in the market (and I think I do) until I finally realized what would be the best approach to me. I think I figured out WHY sometimes we are so insisting in getting questions through secret means. It's because it has "ENTERTAINMENT VALUE". For instance: https://youtu.be/jXFMsZBKxng?t=7m55s From the first question that he divines, he gets a round of applause. If he simply answered the question without divining it, the same level of drama would remain, but would the audience applaud? I don't think so. That's key in my current Q&A, so I can take advantage from both sides. To me, that's the best approach to Q&A (there are other reasons too, but are not mine to share). Cheers, Max
