UK fans of the midway may be interested in the programme on Channel 4 at 9 pm this Thursday (11th July).

Entitled "Born Freak", the programme is a documentary by the actor Mat Fraser. Born with short arms because his mother was given Thalidomide, Mat explores the nature of sideshow "freaks" and examines spectators attitudes towards them. He asks if they see them as "freaks" or simply as actors with disabilities and looks at changes in common prejudice over the years.

For the programme, Mat joined the great sideshow at Coney Island. James Taylor (of Shocked and Amazed fame) was involved in some of the production over in the US.

Should be good - I understand there are no plans to show this in the states as yet. I'll post a review once I've had a good look at the programme.

Cheers

If you like this kind of material and you find yourself near his show, Kevin James is living up to the family legacy (P.T. Barnum was an uncle or something long ago...) and putitng together a very positive perspective show featuring "freaks" that are AWESOME ENTERTAINERS... not just his trade mark dwarf but flippered people, living torsos, etc.

Kev is a genius when it comes to delivering "different" and I think this new show will top anything he's done in the past.
