Can anyone tell me if the prop pictured below is Timothy Wenk's version of the trick? Thank you so much.

I owned this a few years back........and just by looking at the covers, I'd say it's probably legit.
His face isn't really this long in-person!

It looks like my version and I believe it is. I will double check mine later tonight but I think you are good.

The Tim Wenk version has Peter Pan labels. I don't believe he made them any other way. Those in the photo referenced above look like the ones from India.

See this photo of the Tim Wenk version I have: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9yrgdx3y480iiu2/59476.jpg?dl=0

This version also lends to the "peanut butter" flying from one side to the other like Peter does.

No that’s the version Penguin were selling around a decade ago.

The covers stick.

Not recommended.

I stand corrected as I just checked my old set which has a Peter Pan graphic on the label.

Didn't the labels on the Timothy Wenk version also have the stylized Metempirical Magic logo on them (two fancy "M"s that are intertwined), in one of the corners? That's what I seem to remember.

Metempirical Magic was the name of his magic company (and yes, I spelled it correctly... I did a google search for Timothy Wenk Magic and looked at some of the images of his product instructions).

I had an official Timothy Wenk PB&J set, but sold it a few years ago.

I have the set.

Brand New with Smuckers Jelly Jars painted Jelly color inside.

Smuckers is funnier to say.

But never used the set.

You guys are great, thank you for chiming in.

So... what do we think? Wenk version or not?

It looks like Dan confirmed it's identical except his Wenk set has the Peter Pan face on the label (otherwise, the label is the same). My original Wenk set from the late 90's also had Peter Pan on it. I thought I saw Wenk selling a version a few years later with the Peter Pan face removed (perhaps to avoid copyright issues with Disney?), but I can't fully recall.

Dan, I do not recall any Metempirical logo on the black covers on my old one.

But Mick says these are a knock-off previously carried by Penguin.

You can always rub powder inside, that will take care of the stickiness.

The logo was on the peanut butter labels (in addition to them being Peter Pan brand of Peanut Butter), if I remember correctly. I wasn't saying it was on the covers.

Great bit of advice here.

Or just get the ones where you’re not obviously squeezing the sides of the covers to make the switches. FAB Magic do one where the thumb is controlling everything at the back. MUCH better.

I have the original Wenk version and for the record, after hundreds of performances, no one has ever caught on about squeezing of the sides.

I'm with Ken. I used mine for hundreds of shows with no issue. The children were always more concerned with the switch. For that matter I've had adults come up to me after the show specifically asking about that same trick. I used Welch's Grape Jelly in the glass jars. Inside put black paint, put the lid on and swish it around. Let it dry and then put then glue the lid on. Looked like full jelly jars. For storage/travel I used a silk to cover the jelly jar and they traveled nested in the PB jar.

Great prop that packed into a small box and sat at the bottom of my Lefler case with no concern of breaking.

I used a black plastic bag in my jelly jar. Looking at it, you can't tell the difference, but it tastes lousy when I spread it on toast.

I too use a plastic bag in mine and nobody has ever even noticed ... Looks perfect and easier to manage.
