I posted this in the Penny forum about a week ago, but got no responses. I'm curious if anyone here knows anything about this:
I have a mild obsession with cartomancy, and am always in search of the history of the practice, and the thoughts of others on the subject. I was surprised to find, during some amazon time and subsequent googling, there existed this group/order called the Order of the Magi, who use a birthday playing card correspondence to divine meaning in their lives. I was already aware of the birthday playing card correspondence but never saw it in relation to this Order. I posted this because I was curious if any forum members have any insight into the history of the Order, its founder (I think), Olney Richmond, or further knowledge about their system of card reading....please share. Amazon has numerous books by different authors regarding the reading system, and after some research I've found that some of the authors disagree with each other....so, any book recommendations? anybody have Arne Leins book? Thanks |

This is spooky section, welcome. Questions about the Order of the Magi draws attention to you. It is a highly secret organization (that's why you never heard of it)dating back 20,0000 years. The Order was founded in the Old Time by Juvens, the first son of Euz and was into 'high magic'. Their interest in cartomancy is a misunderstanding and their only interest in the cards was the punitive value of the deck.
If they told you the secrets you are asking for, they would have to kill you, and then I'd have to bury you in some obscure places. If any member reveals their secrets, or even whispers their existence, both them and the person revealed to are subject to be pelted by playing cards until they are beaten to death and the Ace of Spades is left in the coat pocket to warn others. (You have heard of leaving the Ace of Spades to symbolize death? That is where it originated. People refer to it today but do not know of its origin. Sort of a fad I guess.) "What happens if the person does not have a coat pocket?" You ask. I have only had one to come in that way and you don't want to know where I found the card. Anyway, I have said enough. If I were you , I'd delete this thread and hide somewhere before they find you. Hopefully, your user name really indicates you have a cave to hide in and not just a moniker. They have eyes and ears everywhere, and some of them are on heads, but few of the heads are attached to any bodies. Weepin' Willie

Hey you know what, maybe it's my time to go! Funny thing is from what little information I've gathered, they really do claim to date back 20,000 years! However, I've got a son that can throw cards (I almost named him Juvens, coincidence!?), and when a card goes whizzing past me and then bangs the wall I'm always thankful I didn't get hit.
Well Willie, you've given me more food for thought than most, I do appreciate it! |
