This has been bugging me now for few years since I stopped wearing jacket while doing close-up. Where to keep extra cards for effects like Red Hot Mama, MacDonalds Aces or Anniversary Waltz?
Trouser pockets are no no, since they already have other items in them and body heat makes the cards warp. Same is true with any pocket inside the vest really. I even tried TKO but same thing, too close to body, cards warp... I usually have 1 extra under the cellophane on card case and something else inside the box using the flap as a divider but this also makes the box unusable for many effects I would love to use it for. I start to think that Eugene Burger's idea of "Magic box" isn't nearly as bad as I think it is Juha-Matti |

An external carry case may help if you are comfortable with it . Take a look at www.borninnovations.com for Born's Bag.
I have one and like it.
check out www.pattricksmagic.com for the best in close up pads and tables.

One thought would be to make a card case that has a couple neodymium magnets on it, sort of like those "how to really lose your spare key" boxes. Even wooden tables and chairs will usually have a fastener somewhere that you can stick a lightweight magnetic object like an envelope with 2-3 cards in it to.

In the time when I was young and wearing a jacket wasn't always good I untuck my shirt and put packs of cards under the shirt between my pants and belt. You have make the belt tight but it will work. I don't know how it will work for the tricks you say but for flourishes was great.
No matter how many times you say the wrong thing, it will NEVER be right.

There are many sizes of belt bags/pouches that you could choose from. For example: https://www.opovoo.com/collections/tacti......aist-bag

If you only need a couple extra cards, a small two pocket "packet trick wallet" would work. For a few more, if you can still find them, the "Aluma-Wallet XL" is great, metal and has several accordion type pockets perfect for gaffs and packet tricks (the XL is a must for poker cards to fit). Another great item is the Leather Gaff card wallet that comes with The Science Friction Spray kit from Card-Shark. Contact Card-Shark and see if he will sell you just the wallet. The wallet has 7 inner sleeves and 2 covers that will hold a couple each. I carry a total of almost 40 individual cards in mine (both individually and as sets of mainly 4-5).

I carefully peel off the cellophane so only the top part comes off like it should but usually doesn't.
Any gaffed cards I need are placed in the space between the box and the cellophane.

I wanted to add that I finally sprung for a JOL Packet Trick Wallet http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S19211 and I wish I not only had a couple more but I wish I had one for years now. I do not agree that it is good for coins (I really don't see that going well) but WOW is it great for managing packet tricks and extra utility cards (like Double Backers, 52 on 1, blank face, double face for Aniv Waltz). If you pack it full, they can bend a little on the edges so I wouldn't sit on it. Carrying it in a shirt pocket of close up bag would be better. If you don't overstuff it, you could put it in your pants pocket with no worries. Once you load it up and close it, you can look in from the top or bottom and see if there are any cards likely to bend.
5 star product in my opinion though. I really like it. My review on Penguin is titled "Finally Pulled The Trigger" and there is a list of what all I loaded it with comfortably.

This is what you want. http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/index.php?......7a41a839
I have one that is double sided. 1 side holds jokers that I use for ACR, the other side holds stranger cards for Red Hot Mama or TnR Transpo. You can keep this in your pocket and if you know which way it's oriented, even go in blind, grab them and add them to the deck without looking. |
