Any restaurant wanting to increase business will offer a website to advertise their unique dining experiences and specials.
In the past I've seen posts from magicians who work from one, to a handful, of restaurants, but do not appear on the website as a featured attraction. I'm curious as to why this might be the case? |

Most likely because a magician will not appeal to everyone and appealing to everyone is the purpose of the restaurant having a website.

...so,with that logic, if linguini with clam sauce is the special it should not be advertised on the website because it might not be appealing to everyone?

I have never worked for more than one place at a time. But my thoughts would be in the age of information not wanting to have people follow the performer to the competition.
I mean you mention his name and then on their Web page is another restaurant. I don't know, but maybe that is it.

My very first restaurant gig was in 1995. It was in a resort town and I was booked for 4 nights a week. The manager featured me with my picture on the back page of a one those newspapers that come out every with listings of all the happenings of the resort. It ran every week for the entire summer. I thought that was very smart. Of course I was not a star, but he built it up to make it appear I was.
In all the restaurants I've done since, I don't think anyone has built the entertainment up like that. Maybe a mention of 'magic night' on their web site something like that, but that's it. I'm with Rocky, I don't understand why. If I owned a restaurant and if I were paying for an entertainer I would certainly build it up to look like something very special was going on.

I created a layout of my page to show the owner what it would look like on their site. They liked it immediately, and added it to their site. At later restaurants, I approach the owners/GMs and asked about the possibility of being a part of their site or social media, and if they ask, I'm ready with suggestions on how or where to incorporate the magical evening into their online presence. It's pretty straightforward and I think more restaurants would highlight the magic - if the idea is brought up in the right way to the right person.
