I'm retired! BUT, IF I were working, with the situation outlined by the OP, I would use my golf ball routine.
My ball routine (KEEP IT SIMPLE - MAKE IT FUN) uses a brief flourish or two, then the Perpetual Ball(s) followed by a(I visible ball thru silk. Props are 1 18" silk, a couple of golf balls, and an "x". The routine meets ALL of my criteria! plus it's time flexible! (Normally 3-4 minutes, but can be shorter, or longer, if needed. Props are in side coat pocket. It's funny and puzzling. (Not in the MIRACLE CLASS, but it does ENTERTAIN. (I published the routine in my book.) For those who are curious about my criteria, I'll list them: 1. VISUAL EFFECT -- Nothing happens under cover. 2. VISIBLE PROP -- Big enough for a group (I've done it for 2,000 people.) 3. VERSATILE EFFECT -- Plays for almost anyone, almost anywhere 4. ANGLE PROOF -- ANY Angle 5. RECOGNIZABLE PROP -- No Victorian Era, or obvious Magic Shop prop. 6. LITTLE OR NO SET UP -- In this routine, NO SETUP 7. NO TABLE NEEDED -- Props work in hands, at chest level. 8. SPOT ADAPTABLE -- Can be opener, middle, or closer. --In THIS situation, it's ALL THREE!!! 9. PROP(S) PACK SMALL & LIGHT 10.WINDPROOF -- Works inside or outside.

Other possibilities: Rope & visible knot effects + rope JUGGLING, Ring & Rope, Prof. Nightmare, Color changing silk (needs 15 second reset. Short silk knots routine, finishing with "Slydini Knot", Invisible Deck, 3 ring routine. Hey! I nearly forgot my routine for the ancient Hurling Bull (oops) Burling Hull ELUSIVE SILK (bare hand vanish). P.S. My Pom Pon Stick could work here, too.

Any feelings on performing a Hummingbird Card routine with something like a borrowed credit card or ID?

Any feelings on performing a Hummingbird Card routine with something like a borrowed credit card or ID? I've never had any luck with IT routines. Someone always spots it. Not everyone of course but enough for me to not consider it reliable. I work restaurants and there is lighting above each table. Kids have sharp eyes and I get caught too often. I know it's a miracle when it works. |

With my ancient eyes, I don't "play"' with IT! I HAVE seen a few "MIRACLES", but, I agree with MMMIKE, and, WARREN.
Granted that I'm now retired, and, not "on the battlefield" every day, but, even when I was working, I can't remember ANYONE, asking me about "floating something". The material that I talked about, above, has "worked" for me, for as long as 50=60 years. As the late Frances Marshall 'usta' say, "He eats off it!"

Chop cup for me, for 25 years it was my one off and closer.
A lot of magic, easy to follow, and impossible productions. It is hard to beat. |

I would and I do multiple card selection.
This way I get everyone at the table involved. Whether it be 6,8,12 or 18 people at the table everyone sees a card (that wants to) then I find them in different revelations. No one has to set anything down to pick a card I just riffle thru the deck and have them say stop and show them the whole card as on Doc Eason Bar magic Vol.1. This has been my #1 got to trick for a group ever since I learned it from Doc yrs ago and gets great reactions like,Let go to Vegas to don't let him at our poker game ect... |

My go to effect is Stand Up Monte by Garrett Thomas and everybody always seems to enjoy it. I could stop at the first phase and people still think it's a good trick, little do they know what's about to hit them. I've always been having some success recently with Houdini Cards from Inject 2.0 by Greg Rostami.

Agreed that stand up monte w/o the last phase is my go to as well. It fits in my breast pocket, hits hard and has an instant reset. And a ton of people are familiar with cards, so it is very relatable. Stand up monte for sure.

I would use any routine designed to get the table laughing, physically involve as many spectators as possible, without making a patsy of anybody.
