I got it but have not had time to watch it yet, hopefully soon.
The great trouble with magicians is the fact that they believe when they have bought a certain trick or piece of apparatus, and know the method or procedure, that they are full-fledged mystifiers. -- Harry Houdini

Let us know what you think of it when you do. Some racey gags in there. Starts with a Kevin Spacey joke so that should give you an idea of what to expect.

Okay, but; did you hear the home audience laugh when Alexander said his near-propless "Milk & Cookies" trick was $85? I don't think he expected a laugh there. Several of his other products carry HIGH PRICE as well. You rich magicians probably don't mind. "Brick Phone" kinda weak.
Much much less material than a regular Peng Lecture, less than a $8 Murphy's as well. I would have paid $3, and felt good, as it felt more "S Alexander infomercial". Puck's "Dancing Hank" was performance only, unfortunately. Wow! it looked good. Your mileage may vary. D~
It's not their senses that mislead, it's their assumptions.

Personally, I think they give way too much stuff for free. It's a fun romp with many cool ideas. Just the opening pieces of taking away a spectator's strength and Dan's take on a puzzle picture could have easily been sold as an expensive download. I've paid a high price for some lectures and gotten a whole lot less.
Harlan's rope thru neck routine was something I thought a busker could use for a big finish. Love those guys. Greg P.S. And I, for one, don't mind the naughty humor. It's about time we do some grown up stuff. Not everything in magic should be for kids only.
One of my favorite quotes: "A critic is a legless man who teaches running."

As I reflect back on five years of doing this holiday special… I’m amazed at how much of a massive undertaking it has been to come up with nearly 20 hours of magic related humor, jokes, song parodies etc that I will only perform once. Why do I continue to do it, well one thing it’s fun… But more importantly I like to be able to give back to my “fans,” colleagues and customers who have supported me and my magic over the years.
Here’s wishing all of you a happy, magical, and prosperous 2018!!!! |

This was my first year of watching it and it was brilliant Scott I wonder if we could persuade lovely Dan to release the previous 4 years for those whom missed them.
Regards Dr Rob. Seasons Greetings to everyone concerned. |

Scott....Thanks so much for the lecture. It was really terrific and we all can see the work that went into this. I especially liked the 'oxygen' routine, card stab and touches on 'Nailed It'. The comedy was great on this lecture but my all time favorite routine of yours, however, is still 'trick in a box', from a previous Christmas!
Thanks again.....Scalito |

I loved it. And I’m cut off from magicians in my area so for me it’s like spending time at the Cheers bar with old friends. Scott and Dan are my Cliff and Norm!

These are great Scott. I've watched all of them and loved them. It's become a sort of Christmas tradition for me, and I always look forward to it. Thanks to you and Penguin for continuing to put these on. It's tons of fun.

Weak and Strong is terrific. a nice texture piece for the mentalism shows that are too often snore jobs.
I absolutely Loved Buying Magic Through the Decades. 1910 is my favorite: "Bully! I shall go home, fashion my props from tin and have a smashing good time!" Nitpicks: No Depression jokes for 1930? Maybe one beat too early... Alas, 1990 slightly predates Web browsing. Question: Is the cigar smoking dealer a tribute to Al Flosso, Denny Haney or someone else? Puck as the dancing Tarbell killed me at Abbotts in 2013 and I loved seeing the bit again. Question: Why is Puck costumed as Tarbell 7, the volume not written by Harlan Tarbell??? Thanks for all these comedy pieces about the foibles of the magic community. They're funny, and the best ones are thoughtfully critical -- they strive to perform the useful social work that good satire can accomplish. While entertaining, you also work to make us better. Thank you, Scott. |
