2. all the apple fanboys are missing a *CRITICAL* point: with Android, I (or anyone) can
create an app and absolutely control distribution of it (should I choose to do so).
Part of such control would be distributing it outside of a "play store / app store" ...
something that ... and this is the critically important part ... Apple refuses to let you do,
but is exceedingly easy on Android.

I don't like having non-magicians be able to look up items in the app store / play store
and see a description like "DFB has been designed to allow the user to force any one of 100 items.".
I'd much rather have them find: nothing.
I don't like having to submit apps to non-magicians at Apple (or Google or Amazon), possibly/probably
revealing secrets, to seek approval to sell them.

My 5 cents Smile

While you're right, the pricing would need to be astronimically higher to support the apps development on Android were that the case. The only reason DFB can sell at the price it does is because a reasonably broad number of people are finding it and buying it on the app store.

If you take away iOS sales - which would be 80-90% of the sales base for a premium priced magic app - and take away app store sales on Android and force people to sideload, I'd expect you'd end up selling about 1% of the copies.

Which *would* keep it secret.

The question is, are you willing to pay $3500 dollars in order to have that exclusivity?

Some magicians are, of course, willing to pay that sort of money for signature effects. But taking something that is only mass market priced due to reach and asking for it to be both cheap AND exclusive doesn't really make sense.

Not to mention that app piracy is rife on android, a problem you don’t have to worry about on IOS.

I finally purchased this after being hesitant as I have an Android phone and I'd read that support/upgrades is limited for Android. Nevertheless, I'm happy with the product as is. Great idea, works well and lots of potential for creative minds.

I have Samsung S7 phone. I would like to known if the app / screen layout work on Samsung S7 ?

Thanks for the info. Appreciated. Not everyone is switched on enough to understand iOS. Android is a good substitute.

Of course Apple have the best magic apps because it’s an easier one station platform to build an app upon , rather than the cross platforms that android covers .
Every group of spectators you perform to at least one will have an iPhone so you can either use your iPhone or theirs so that also makes common sense for any magic app developer imho .
Buy a cheap second hand iPhone just for magic if you don’t want one as your to go to mobile phone , it seems a no brainier to me Gaz 🙂

Also piracy is a lot more prevalent on Android. That is why DFB stopped supporting Android.
But then there are other apps that are only on Android so it depends on what your favorite apps are and if they are important enough to you to dictate which phone you get.

I posted this on the DFB FB group but for those not on it you may enjoy it:

Here is a stage/parlour performance and presentation of D.F.B.
It demonstrates how an app can be hidden within a larger story and hopefully not look like an app at all!

I'm assuming you need the audience member to have selected and stated the number before you hand them the phone? I've not read all 23 pages of comments but isn't this an issue because most people will quickly come up with at least a couple of ways this could be achieved with a smart phone app. They might be way off the actual method but that doesn't really matter. Obviously, you can weave the selection of a number into the story (as per some of the examples given) but this still feels like a weakness when combined with the use of technology with well known capabilities that could be used here. Would be interested in comments on this but feel free to delete if it says too much.

It won’t be real magic and technology must be involved as you wouldn’t need a phone otherwise ?
It’s a great one that I fully recommend nevertheless Gaz 🙂

I have been using this app a lot. Very clever and innocent looking. Can't think of a better way to force things electronically
