I'm sitting in a restaurant with the owner negotiating the amount of hours a week I'll perform, what days, and the fee. Right before I was getting ready to slide my proposal across the table he recieves a call.
It was a call from a group trying to book a restaurant for a party. Now this guy hasn't raised his menu prices in four years. He doesn't have a huge profit margin to offer a discount on. Another restaurant had offered a discount. The owner states that he can not offer a discount but he is working on a deal with a for house magician on the day of the party. The possible patron on the phone says its a deal. Come to find out she was booking the party of 50 for a birthday for her daughter who loves magic. I got the gig. No I didn't prearrange this but wouldn't it be a great way to clench a deal?
