Just wanted to share this here. Those familiar should be able to see the Copperfield, Cyril and other influences in my Routine.
Since it is in my mother tongue, Bahasa Malaysia, I will tell you that the premise is that it is all just "an illusion". That is, the rubber bands are not locked and in the end, one rubber band doesn't even exist. They're just illusions. However, I trust you can still follow the flow of the routine even through the language barrier. Enjoy... 😉 https://youtu.be/DYGEMJYCbsQ PS: Those from Malaysia may recognize the famous Actors I was performing to then. It was during a TV Drama shoot.

It was awesome when your spectator started singing the Can-Can theme. I'm curious, which part is "yours"?

The scripting/storyline is original as far as I know. Technique-wise, the second move where they could feel the link in the rubberbands while I am still holding on to the bands, as in "you can even touch and feel the illusion is real" and then I do a spin out release as if showing "the back of the illusion" I came by myself through practising the Crazy Man's Handcuff wrong for so many years. Yup, really. 😝 Certainly, nothing is groundbreaking but I do believe that THAT exact Routine (or routining) is unlike any other Magician's that I have seen perform within a similar angle. And to top it all off, I did say "my modified". 😁 Your opinion may differ. 😉

Yes, knowing the patter would add some to the entertainment, but it's pretty entertaining to not understand a word, then hear you do the Can-Can tune, then hear your helper pick it up after you. That is a very cool moment.
As for how the parts are put together, I'm sure tons of people did exactly that when they learned the vanish. It's pretty much tacked on the end of CMH. I just wanted to know what part to credit you for. However, if one is going to go the route of letting the spectator give it a try as you have, with your intended result, then the "touch the illusion" part is a great segue into them trying it for themselves. One might even be able to have them hold the link during the vanish as well, if one can have expert management of them. |
