Hello Phoedon, do you use a matchbox version or an advanced version inside a matchbox. From what I know advanced versions come only in bigger boxes.
So now the choice seems to be between small or flexible... |

I use the small matchbox version. I think it IS the latest version, unless I’m wrong.
Works better than I’d have ever expected. Phedon

Both versions are up to date. The Rex Ignis Advanced version can be used without a box (totally invisible).
I love mine! Great review! |

Other than the possibility of using the advanced version without a box how they compare in term of measures? Are the 2 versions the same size or not?
Thank you |

Since nothing was said about this...
In 2005 even published in Penguin Magic, despite some buyers not understanding the potential of it https://thinkingparadox.com/producto/blaze/ As you can read it says "Efectos originales" (Original Effects) so this effect has a lot to credit here... |

MarianoG hope you don't mind asking... how can you be so sure?
Did you have a conversation with Rainer about this? I suggest you contact him and you both enjoy exchanging thoughts. I deeply appreciate your creations and your right attitude toward helping customers. We all need to get along and enjoy more than fight. Have a blessed Sunday! |

I own Blaze as well and the consistently bad reviews on penguin reflect my opinion pretty much.
you know that Derren Brown did this effect already in 2003...? so where are the credits in Blaze? can't find them... sorry, but comparing Blaze with Rex Ignis is like comparing apples with oranges. We are talking about a method that is a pyhsical law (that is well known). Not a new idea or concept or or...so I don't understand this crediting-story at all? Seems more like "who found the better solution"...not who was first! |

I ordered one of these from Christian Schenk of Card Shark at the Genii convention at the beginning of October. It finally arrived in the U.S. on Oct. 25 but didn't get to my location until Nov. 5th (unfortunately too late for my planned Halloween performances). The following day, after watching the instructional video, I carefully tried it out. It ran for about 5 seconds, then I pressed the remote... and it stopped running and started SMOKING. I quickly unplugged the power from the device.
I am still waiting on a reply that will address the problem. The only message I received was that the issue was being passed along to Christian who would get back to me soon. Which is longer than I would have expected as I am still waiting. This is a great effect with a LOT of potential, but I question the price -- not because of the components, but because of the construction. Small connectors and wire leads without strain relief are sure to break as the power supply needs to be disconnected from the device and attached to a separate charger. Too many fragile connections. I didn't get to use mine enough for the wiring to break, but it seems likely to happen even with very careful use since the wires need to be flexed to fit into the matchbox. They could have used a different mating connector attached directly to the board for the battery and device without the lead wires. The same is true of the charger. Eliminating these wires would make the device much more rugged. I hope to get some support soon. |

Thanks to the Magic Café' person who put in a good word for me with the creator of Rex Ignis. Card-Shark is sending a replacement unit out today (Nov. 13). I will post again after I receive it.

Added the small version to my repertoire thanks to Rainer from Paralabs - THE mind behind Rex Ignis.
This is very special. The project evolves and gets bigger (technically of course the gimmick got smaller!). Ingenious thinking lead to this. If I told you what I had paid a few years ago for a “kind of predecessor“ (I signed a NDA, took a big investment as well as efforts to build and perform it): you would immediately jump on this train here. If you like the effect you can not go wrong. It hurts to tell you about this gem because I deeply think it is THAT special. Rex Ignis allows to perform something that is not possible and pure as it gets. |
