These are advertised on Bob Kohler's website. Anyone know if these are going to be hot?
I have never heard of this guy? Cheers. Daren |

There is a thread regarding Bog Kohler's Bill To Lemon that has mention of him. Do a search on the Lemon To Bill or Bob Kohler, and I'm sure you will find it.

Let's see a few demos to judge for ourselves.

Demos, demos, demos. Are people really that hard up for cash that they can't spend $30, or do they have to see all the routines first in order to plunk down change?
Now, I can see wanting to learn more about the guy, or get reviews from others you respect, or get a full listing of the disks contents, but this demo thing is really kind of silly, no? I mean, prior to the days of the Internet would you have never bought a book? With this attitude you would have said, "Yeah, I've heard of this Vernon guy, but Ultimate Secrets, please. Let's see some demos before we get the book." If anything, the Internet has proven that a good demo does NOT necessarily make a great trick, and most demos keep people away from buying high quality material from which they could really learn something because they think just because they have an idea how the trick works, that there is no other reason to buy. There are many reasons to buy, which includes getting a perspective from someone who is making both a name and a living for themselves in one of the world's top magic markets. But I forgot, you guys just want a bunch of tricks. Why should real learning enter into the equation? Never mind. Demos. Can we grow up here? |

I LOVEEEEEE to see a demo before I buy, either in person or on the Net with a video.
Think about how much junk we've all bought over the years just based on a description in a catalog or flyer. Now at least we really have an idea what the trick is all about. Even today I still find some magic trick descriptions somewhat misleading, and others even downright false. |

I predict they will be very hot. Scott is a great thinker and real-world performer.

I agree that fraud is always bad. But I know we all know of tricks with excellent demos online that had us screaming after the purchase was made. So, I don't think demos (online) are the best answer. I do agree however, that live demos are better, but even then you are limited by the talent of your demonstrator.
What is more valuable, though, is the knowledge of your demonstrator and his (or her) knowledge of you. Then, they can help you make the right choice. Failing that, then you have the opinions of others. Though again, knowledge of their strengths/weaknesses/values are really essential to placing their words in context. So, the WEAKEST basis on which to make a decision is a online demo. I just wanted to get that out there so this thread doesn't turn into the holdout thread with everyone whining that there are no demos. But to the point of the DVDs. I can't speak to them, yet, but I can speak to Scott's ability. Scott has worked very hard to get where he is. He has spent years taking his show and molding it into a Vegas caliber entertainment. He has been the "on-call sub" for some leading names in the field, and his magical ideas are very clever. I believe that this is less a result of a prodigy like gift, but the result of working hard for years in the art. Scott is not some 18 year old with a few flash-in-the-pan ideas who puts out a DVD that is derivative, shallow and pretentious. Scott is someone who has worked very hard to get to where he is and has decided to share some of his ideas with the magic community. Hopefully, that may help you make a purchasing decision. |

Same here. I have ordered these DVDs. I am particularly interested in his handling for Dean's box. This is one heck of a routine, and he has added three new phases to it. It'll be good to hear what sort of phases he has added.

You know, I never liked Dean's Box. I think it's an effect to do for Magicians.

I tried to find a website for Scott as well, but I don't think one exists. I tried several different searches, but came up empty. Scott is a member here, you might want to try sending him a private message.

I am very interested in his version of "Dean's Box". The link for preview is not in action. Maybe in a few days?
Attention: In his e-mail-ad, Bob changes the two contents of the two DVDs. On the HP is another listing - the opposite way (10 clock - midnight show). Fabius |

Hi guys,
I just heard from the manufacturer of the DVDs they should arrive both in Las Vegas and at Murphy's Magic Supplies on Wednesday. I'll save you some time. Scott doesn't have a website because he doesn't need one. His career is booked by high-end agents plus he's working five days a week in his own show at the Fitzgerald's Casino. I have made a trailer that will be on the web soon. I'm rebuilding my entire web site and switching servers so it may not make it onto my site, but you can see it at many other places. I agree that the trailers give you a clue to the content, but in this case the two DVD's are packed with almost three hours of material. There's really no way to get a solid idea of what the content is. |
