James,
I did study drama and recieved a BA in theatre. Because I went to a small college I got to participate in all aspects of theatre such as acting, writing, and stagecraft. I think all magicians could benefit from some theatrical training. I feel I got a lot out of it. As far as being a good teacher...my mom has been a school teacher for 30 so I guess some of her talent rubbed off. Thanks for your kind words. Scott |

Did you actually write one when you first started or play it by ear? Thanks again, James ps Sense of color is just so perfect. I love the violin music, the talking to the audience almost as an aside. Filled with drama it's very emotionally evocative. It's going straight into my show. Not word for word of course, just an adaptation of the effect.

I do write a script and once I have it memorized I can be free to improv along the way. Its always nice to know where you are going and how to get there. I try to do that with all of my material.
I hope you have success with the routine. And again thanks for your compliments. Scott |

After purchasing Mr. Bob Kohler's wonderful item, The Final Answer, I watched the accompanying DVDs with Mr. Scott Alexander's excellent performances and explanations of the bill to lemon effect. I then decided to purchase both of Mr. Alexander's DVDs featuring his own magic and routines entitled, "10:00 o'clock Show" and "12:00 o'clock Show."
I will not go into every routine since previous posts have already discussed them. But I can say that both DVDs are excellent. Mr. Alexander's magic and routines are simple and direct and have great impact on the audience. His routines are extremely well thought out and masterfully structured without being weighed down by unnecessary methodology. The techniques Mr. Alexander utilizes are within easy reach of most magicians and students of magic. Mr. Alexander's style is easy going and his performance is engaging. Mr. Alexander's magic is refreshing as it is entertaining. You will enjoy watching these DVDS. You will learn from watching these DVDs. And most importantly, you will perform the effects on these DVDS. Viva Las Vegas! Best regards, magicinsight

I finally got my set of Scott's DVDs and have to agree with everybody that both DVDs are great. If you haven't picked these up yet you are really missing out. Thank you Scott for sharing such good material and for putting out such a well produced set of DVDs.

I went to see Steve Dick perform at the Edinburgh festival a couple of weeks ago. He performed Water monte, and I was blown away! It was amazing. I can't wait till I reach Vegas (tommorow)...I am going staight to the dealer hall of MAGIC live to pick up htesse DVDs (please say there are some left)! He also performed a trick where he put a nail up his nose...Is this Nailed?

The nail up the nose is an old circus type stunt called "Blockhead". It is not the same effect as "Nailed" on the Scott Alexander DVDs. If you want to see some work on "Blockhead" check out Ian Kendalls CD-ROM called "BHMME".

This is to Scott and Bob:
THANK YOU!!! It was an unbelivible fresh pleisure to watch these DVD's. For a long time, I didn't see somebody put so many own thoughts in his routines and inspired me that much to come up with own originial stuff. Scott is very funny and very likeable. I recommend these tapes to really everyone, from beginner to pro's. Can't wait for the "2 o'clock Show" and the "Moring Show" ;-)

Hi Scott
I'll be in Las Vegas from the 4th to the 7th of September. Where are you performing right now? I'd really like to see you perform. Thanks and regards Chris

I also do a guest spot occasionally in the Showgirls of Magic at the San Remo.
Every Tuesday night we do a show at the Denny and Lee Magic shop. We have a nice black box theatre and lots of local performers showcase there. Scott |

I just got the midnite show. I've only viewed the Water Monte and the Coffee Cup routine. All I can say is EXCELLENT. Very entertaining and well thought out routines easily worth the cost of the DVD. The liquid load idea is very practical and I will use it.

I probably won't be performing there again this year. I am going to try and be there if I can.
It's always a great convention. Scott |

I think this thread deserves to be brought back up. I just got the Midnight Show DVD and found it to be excellent. I really like the water load idea, and the cleverness of Scott Alexander's Spitball Bullet Catch.
