Deception is a new TV series about an illusionist helping the FBI solve crimes using his magic talents.
In my area the first episode is on March 11 on ABC.
I'm looking forward to this.

Sure took them long enough to re-boot "The Magician"! Albeit with a darker theme.

At least it's got some humor going for it. I quit watching TV many years ago. This won't bring me back, but it looks like it could be fun if you have the time to kill.

I saw the add. I’m wondering if there is a recent uptick in interest in learning magic?

This seems like a variant of "White Collar".
The FBI captures a con man (Bonner) who they release and use his conning skills to help them catch criminals.
Simon Lovell was a consultant on "White Collar". My son worked as a cameraman and talked about Simon often.
Except instead of a con man, Deception is using a magician.
Sounds interesting.

Take Castle, mix evenly with Lucifer, add a dash of The Mentalist for flavoring, and just a hint of The Finder, for personality.

It doesn't seem to be on the big streaming services yet so I'll wait.

While over on the set of "Instinct," Alan Cumming is doing his own Castle impression. Admittedly, I am looking forward to seeing Deception. I wonder about exposure vs. entertainment though.

Nope. I'm more impressed that it took you 5 years to make your first post and this is the topic that moved you to action, lol.

Well, it HAS been a little slow in the magic world for the past half-decade or so. TV to the rescue!

The pilot was entertaining. Props to Jack Cutmore-Scott, as Cameron Black, for performing the opening scene in one take. I would love to see a TV show on magic set in the 19th-century, like Nolans 'The Prestige'.

In the beginning, Cameron performed a series of card tricks including, "Princess Card".
My wife was impressed with that.
After the show, I did the same trick for her but she was not impressed at all.
She's really tough on me.

I found a good enough to watch again. Time will tell whether it will hold the attention of the general public.

Watched ep 1 and wasn't that excited. After shows like Psych, Castle, Lucifer (as mentioned before and probably others I can't seem to remember) seem to give off the "Illusion" that anybody can walk into a police station with some off beat skill and become an "Assistant Detective" without all those silly loopholes like knowing and following "Actual Law". However, I am easily entertained so I may give it at least 1 season. Smile
