I watched a demo of the Secret Files and was very intrigued. Any reviews from someone who owns the DVDs?

I've got both the Sankey Secret files on Video (I presume the DVDs don't have anything that the videos don't).
They've got a lot of really good ideas on them - Jay is at his most enigmatic - even fraky on these videos, but at least he does make all the videos he puts out different from eachother and always highly entertaining. I'd highly recommend these, although the filming has been done in a darker setting than I'd have chosen. Brian.

I posted an initial review of Vol. 1 about a year ago. Do a search, and you should be able to read it. I'd put the link in, but don't know how to do it.

Highly recommended. Some of my favorites from the videos…
Outsider Black market Sweetbread 180 degrees Chameleon Remote control Midnight special Classified These videos have a little of everything cards, coins, mentalisim, levitation. I also happen to like Jay’s teaching style.

Yeah in my opinion these are the best two tapes Sankey has put out. Some really great ideas - well worth your time and money.

I didn't find even one interesting thing on the tapes. Same kind of stuff that Sankeys has allready published ten times before. He has much better tapes out and all the secresy about the tapes and they should be containing something ground breiking and totally new ideas that Sankey has kept for himself years is total bogus in my opinion. They are nothing special. If you want to get Jay Sankey tapes get Sankey tized 1 and 2 or the Best of Jay Sankey. They are at least 100 times better than these

There were several interesting ideas in this set, like Fedex Change, What If, Signed, Singed and Delivered, Outsider, but his first video set Sankey-tised still remain the best videos he has put out so far.

I actually thought they were only 22.6 times better. At least.

Just traded a friend for Vol. 2...he won't give up Vol 1, yet...but...I gotta find out what I have to come up with to convince him...hypnosis? "Ooooh...(Sankey, high-pitched cartoon voice), you are getting sleepy...sleeeee-py...now...you will trade vol 1, and will take a Svengali Deck in trade, and will think it's a good deal, dammit!"...
I gotta have this...one more week, and I give up. Hello, Penguin...? Doug |

I think these were Sankey's best dvds. These set of dvds first introduced me to Sankey's material hwne I first started magic. so it's worth it, IMO.

Generally good. Vol 1 is better than vol 2 IMO. His performing persona is quite grating - I actually feel embarassed for him at tikes but maybe I just don't get him. I thought the "crazy" stream of consciousness comic stuff went out of fashion 10 years ago?
Some of the effects are really good. The trick where the specs red-backed card is put back in the shuffled red-backed deck only for the deck to turn blue back in front of your eyes...except for the chosen card is genius in simplicity. |

Just got Vol 1...had to trade away some really good stuff for this...
Embarrassed for him, Neil? He's unique...over the top, yep, but he sure had me laughing...nonsensical drivel...I really do appreciate that "out there" sense of humor. I didn't get it at first, but then remembered my Canadian friend, and it all came back...Sankey is Canadian, and has that same warped sense of humor, almost schizoid in its hilarity, sometimes subtle, as in his little "foreign" personas, sometimes loaded with non-sequitors (my favorite), but a truly great teacher. If you knew him (and I don't), I bet his sense of humor wouldn't bother you so much. I'm willing to bet he could keep you laughing. This is my favorite Sankey material to date. After watching these again, I don't think I'll miss my traded stuff that much... Doug |

One of the best lines from that series:
"You think you have a FREE WILL?? You-hoo-hoo DON'T!" Just kills me...STOP ME HERE...that one card trick has become one of my favorites... I also have a reason to break out my Invisible Deck...cannot recommend this higher! Look at the price at Penguin now: http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=434 Can you resist? Doug |

How do these compare to The Very Best of Jay Sankey?

I love the secret files but don't think they are nearly as good as his very best of series. If you are new to Jay, that is where to start.

I'm missing somethin', here...
Sankey-tized?? A search came up ZIP for that... Best of?? Is there another one BESIDES The Very Best Of? Penguin doesn't sell L&L any more...can ya still get those old vids? Please don't say eBay, as I don't do that any more. Had an "experience", so to speak. Sankey's great, IMO...3 Ring Circus is another favorite! Doug |

I personally think the only sankey product worth buying is his revolutionary coin magic dvd. other than that, you could just flush your money down the toilet and get the same experience

I have the secret files DVD's and think they are great. I however am starting to concentrate in other areas of magic and are selling them. If you want them let me know.
