I have a walking liberty TUC coin by Tango Magic. Before I dropped it it worked flawlessly. Now it sticks. I have had no luck fixing it myself.
Mr Tango agreed to fix it but I would have to send it to Argentina. Unfortunately coins are on the prohibited list for delivery to Argentina. Can anyone suggest someone in the US who could fix it? |

Oh coins are on the prohibited list for delivery to Argentina? I did not know that. Anyways I think I've heard people sent their own coins to Mr. Tango for custom made orders. Maybe you should contact Mr.Tango directly or wait for him to see this post. He is very active on here.

He is quite knowledgeable of coins. He may be able to either help you fix it or give you a direction to go to get it fixed.

Not having any luck using the forum search for the name "ignimntoya".

Inigmntoya is the correct spelling and he is very knowledgeable about coin gaffs. If you scroll through almost any thread in this forum you will see a post from him.
But it’s impossible to know how to help you because you didn’t provide enough details about the problem you are having. Being more specific may be helpful. |

I apologize for the misspelling.

Well the insert sticks in the shell because the edge of the shell got dented when I dropped it. It's not an obvious dent that I can see but the shape of the shell no longer perfectly fits the insert.

That’s a pretty common problem with any type of shell. If you search through this forum there is a lot of info on how others have fixed this issue.
I think any of the methods would also work with a TUC. If you really want Mr. Tango to fix it I believe he is in the US at the moment so perhaps it would be possible to send your TUC to him at a US address. Might be worth reaching out to him via PM or email. But generally it can be fixed DIY which would certainly be the easiest and quickest method. |

I messaged Mr Tango last week and he gave me the Argentina address. This TUC worked flawlessly and I don't want to risk damaging it further by trying to fix it myself.
I'd prefer to find someone in the US who knows what he is doing. I will happily pay for this service. |

People have suggested using a silk. I've tried this with no success. I think the toleranc on the TUC is much closer than on a regular shell set. It worked flawlessly before but now it clicks.

Perhaps the best repair for a TUC is to replace it with a split coin. you can get it for the price of sending it to someone.
it is far better than the Tuc. youdon't have to worry about dropping it. it is not good for its secret to drop it but will not cause a problem. also it is far easier to separate and will never be detected by a spectator. with just a little audience management, I put it in people's hands with other coins. never had a problem. |

First I reply Magic Mike, if you just send the coin inside a envelope nobody will know it is a coin, actually is not a coin is a magic trick now, by the way I will be lecturing in Penguin and Fantasma Magic in NY next week, if you want to send it to Fantasma Magic, I will be there May 4th.
Now I reply Countrymaven, nobody is asking about how to fix a split coin here, actually these coins are totally different coins, everyone works for different effects and I NEVER speak about the other factories products, if you don't like the TUC, I understand, but please don't confuse people. |

Thanks Mr Tango. The TUC is an amazing coin. The fact that I dropped it is no fault of the coin.

Hi to all. I apologize for not addressing the exact question asked. but there is a reason for doing so. what if you have a big walkaround gig and your tuc is in your next routine, and you drop it and it doesn't work. I think magicians helping magicians also extends to knowing of reasonable alternatives which will not get you stuck sometime without recourse. so although this information is not welcome to someone selling tuc's, I think offering a less costly alternative which wont' get you stuck at the last minute is at least a decent bit of information to offer. to misquote Shakespeare: to drop or not to drop, that is not the question, but rather to have a coin that can always take that drop!

Countrymaven, I think your comment should have been about any gimmick that contains any kind of a Shell, S**** S**, C/S/B, Hopping Half, Sun/Moon, flipper, not just a TUC, because all of them could be ruined, like any other prop, even a split coin, when they are dropped. Also your comment does not mentioned that a split coin has only one real face by each half, while the TUC and others could be shown as 2 coins.
I use TUCs and I like them, and I use split coins and I also like them, similar gimmicked coins but not the same. |

I'll second Pabloinus' comments.
A TUC is a TUC. A split coin is a split coin. Different tools with different abilities, advantages, and disadvantages. |

Mr Tango,
The coin is on it's way to Fantasma Magic. Thank you for your generous offer to try to fix it. |

Hi pabloinus, you say all can be ruined by dropping. a split coin can't unless you drop it off the empire state. also shells can easily be fixed normally after drop. I am not trying to offer a 100% alternative. Yes, the split coin takes a little simple handling. Tuc's are notorious for not coming out, or separating easily too (depending either on the size of a specific one, or the lack of precision which Tango is so well known for.=). so again I am not offering an alternative for everyone. I am just mentioning a reasonable alternative which will give you fewer problems in handling and use, including almost zero repairs ( I have never had to fix a split coin), along with being a more reasonable alternative.
