Here I leave my bad experience with a magic shop called The Magic Attic at 178 Kingston Road North End Portsmouth Hants.
The website of this store is www.themagicattic.co.uk Order placed on May 18. 15 days later, after checking that my order appears on the web in "pending" status, I send an email asking about my package and the shipping number. A man named Darren Holden answers me telling me to be patient. I send another email saying that I want the tracking number and until today without an answer. Claims to Paypal and this man is dedicated to sending PayPal false tracking numbers. Paypal is reviewing all the documentation. It is a shame that stores of the profession are dedicated to deceiving their clients. Take note. |

Thanks for the warning! I just ran into them a couple days ago on the web, but I didn't order anything.
And now I WON'T. Not never. Not ever.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

Yes, the seller sent false tracking numbers. Paypal has already returned the money.

Do not buy at Magic Attic (owned by Darren Holden)!!!...seems to happen more often - ordered article had never been sent, refund had never been made - status "pending" for months now - it really is a shame to have such dishonest "fellows" in that business - as a magician Darren Holden advertises to "make the impossible possible" - cynical indeed - PayPal will refund hopefully

Sent off for an item some 5 weeks ago and haven't had anything since. They don't answer the phone. It just rings and rings. Disgusting way to run a shop. Don't buy from them.

Goodness - visiting the site should tell you something straight away.
It is horrendous and unprofessional, "something is not quite right" should hit you straight in the face ... |

If you didn't know already, here are some trusted magic suppliers in the UK - not in any particular order ...

Week before last, I ordered a prop from what is called “The Secret Attic” in Portsmouth. I have experienced similar issues.
I ordered the prop, and when I hit “buy” from PayPal I just got the little spinning wheel, for six minutes. I guessed it was my mistake; turned my computer off and back on, accessed their website, found the prop and pushed “buy” PayPal. Again, I got only the spinning wheel, no indication that the purchase was successful. Soon, I got TWO emails from PayPal saying I had bought two of them. I left a message on the Attic’s website, saying I only need one. No reply. I messaged PayPal that there was a problem. They sent the Attic a message telling them to contact the buyer. No email from Attic for more than a week. I should have suspected a possible Problem. They show themselves to stock a range of no-longer-made Mikame Craft products than no Web shop in the USA stocks anymore. I plan to give them another several days, and then contact PayPal to stop the transactions. Please PM me if you have other advice. IF the Secret Attic comes through after all, I will write an update on this thread. George |

I've never ordered anything from the UK or anywhere outside the US because I was always fearful my item wouldn't arrive or it would takes months to arrive. For those of you in the US who do, (I referring to the legit shops) is it pretty safe that your item does arrive?

I have ordered from shops in the UK and while shipping takes longer than if I ordered from a shop in the US, I've always gotten my items. To stress what others have already said, I always deal with reputable shops in the UK.

I have never had a single problem ordering from the UK, mostly from Alakazam. Items don't take that long to arrive. Even during this time with mail slowdowns, I ordered Changing Cards from Richard Young in the UK and had it in 11 days.

Sorry Mike ... of course, Saturn Magic is also a great UK magic supplier.
Missed that one! |

Maybe not , I'm waiting on items from the USA since March.
I trust the guys that I have purchased off 100% . Sadly just a case of what's going on at the moment. |

I never heard from the Secret Attic people. PayPal has put one of my two payments back into my bank account. I reminded them that there was a second purchase, and gave them the transaction number, so presumably that reinbursement is in process.
As best I can tell, the Magic Attic earned a bad reputation and changed its name to the Secret Attic, but when you buy from them the organization is The Pack of Cards. If they turn out to be wonderful, after all, I will be grateful and will correct the record on this thread. In the meantime, buyer beware. George |

He is one of the good guys, and he does a brilliant job in terms of quality products and service. His site is https://www.mindfx.co.uk/ Also, as someone mentioned, Prop dog is a reputable shop. I find it an awesome shop that offers unique items, and it saved my bacon when it came to me being able to use my Vapr. I have ordered from them a few years ago. Everything arrived in a few weeks to me here in Texas, and I will use them again when the time comes. Thanks goodness the good/great shops and honest creators/magicians greatly outweigh the dishonest hucksters out there. |

There is a Facebook group called
"Fraud Magic Buyers and Sellers" that was started and managed by the guys at Airship Magic. It is not for buying and selling at all but a place to warn and be warned of illegitimate sources all around the world. You might want to check it out / join and add this shop (or person) to the list (although it may already be there). It is a good group where you can get some advanced warnings on certain sellers. I have nothing to do with Airship or the group other than being a member of the group.

I received another email from PayPal, and it looks like they will award my second refund. Never heard (or received) anything from the Secret Attic.
Thanks for all the reports about some of the reliable U K magic dealers. I have had good service from several of them. I learned, however, that not all U K magic dealers are created equal! George |

That's a violation not only of the law of privacy which the seller has, it's a violation of his civil rights. Paypal will never give out account information on a seller or a buyer other then what pertains to a case between the two parties. Jake Jr.
