Anyone have this?
I'm not good at arts and crafts so am wondering - how easy are these to make? Yes, I see that it says "Easy to make" right there near the top, but it wouldn't be the first time I saw that and wasn't able to make something. https://bigblindmedia.com/products/gimmi......williams |

I am on Ben's mailing list, and he was kind enough to provide me with a review copy, I have reviewed it on my blog:
http://magician.org.uk/gimmick-it-yourself-ben-williams/ But long story short the gimmicks are very easy to construct, Ben goes through it all on the download, but really it takes minutes to construct the gimmicks, they are very easy, and I have NO arts and crafts ability! This is a great download, as I wrote in my review it is great to see a multiple effect download, that runs for over two hours, with added routines and ideas. Any questions just let me know and will try and answer without giving too much away! |

As a side note I had the pleasure of watching Ben lecture a few weeks back and must say what a nice bloke who's more than willing to help other magicians with their magic.
He also demonstrated a couple of effects from his new download and whilst simple to make they were very effective....i wish him every success with this project. |

I like the "artistic" sped up footage during the card holdout bit.

Is this download similar to "Anything" you released sometime ago.
Appreciate your clarification. Thanks & BR, Simon. |

Hi Simon,
None of the gimmicks are like Anything as Anything is a routine, however these gimmicks could be used if you were performing Anything. In Any Word, a pdf I released in 2007 I taught the basics to Enveload and Shadow Envelope, on this download there is more info on both of these concepts and updated versions of the gimmicks, I did mention this in the sales blurb to be as transparent as possible. I also do teach a streamlined version of the Anything routine as a routine with the Shadow Envelope, amoungst many other routines to accompany these gimmicks. I hope that helps, Ben. |

Here are some reviews that have come in from others about Gimmick It Yourself, It has also just been reviewed very nicely in the latest issue of Magicseen Magazine which I am very pleased about
What a lovely download. The fact that this is returning to multiple effects as a project is a delight to see. This is from the mind of a worker indeed. Have you ever forgotten your card to wallet wallet to a gig? This project has a solution. Ever forgotten a ring flight? Again this project has a solution. This project gives you an insight into a creative working mind which has inspired me to be more creative. These effects are perfect for the hobbyist and the professional. The hold out gimmick is genius! This is another great project from a great performer and all round nice guy. If you have any of Ben's tricks you will buy this without hesitation. If you don't have any of his stuff this will make you want to own all of his effect! Especially linko - Nick Marshall Fantastic teaching from Ben Williams once again. Everything taught in great detail . My favourites were Off Balance and SOS. Definitely will be using them in my next close up gig. Thanks for releasing this once again, 10/10. Loved it. Perfect timing too. My ring flight gimmick just broke! - John Loo - LOVED Off-Balance. This goes straight into my everyday carry, as it doesn’t take up any space and is a perfect trick to do in a casual situation. - Don’t really see myself using SOS, as I believe Ring Flight and Interlace have a better impact and are easier to perform, however both of them are quite expensive and this is a great alternative for someone who isn’t willing to spend that money. - Stash: Pretty cool concept that sparked a few ideas in my head, although I believe you need to have a certain style to pull this off, as I don’t see myself using it while wearing a suit. - Shadow Envelope: Hooohoho this was cheeky and I love it. So many possibilities.. - Enveload: Similar to SOS, I think this is a great alternative for someone who doesn’t want to pay big buck for a fancy wallet. Wish I saw this back when I started magic as a kid - I would have used the hell out of it Smile Overall, I think anyone who likes making gimmicks will find something in here and the price makes it a no brainer. Great stuff! Take care, Alex Sladman And there is a detailed review here at: http://magician.org.uk/gimmick-it-yourself-ben-williams/ by blogger Richard Morrell Thanks again for all your interest. You can buy directly from me at www.originalmagic.co.uk or you can buy from many other dealers, Murphys Magic Supplies just took this on so it will be pushed out to a lot more online retailers so you should hopefully find it in your favourite store! Best wishes, any questions please ask, I am always happy to help however possible. Best, Ben |

Ben has a superb track record of creating very strong and practical magic and I always get excited when he releases any material. "Tear-able Sessions" and "Anything" have been in my repertoire for quite some time and I must say, he's done it again with this latest release.
Gimmick It Yourself contains five easy-to-make gimmicks, several of which have multiple uses and for each Ben teaches his routine - and in some cases several routines. I'll describe my thoughts on each below, but to cut to the chase, there is some really clever thinking here. Off Balance is an interesting and offbeat effect where you balance an object, such as a Sharpie, fork, sunglasses, etc on the end of your finger. The great thing about this, is the object that is suspended is completely un-gimmicked and can be borrowed. The gimmick is quick and easy to make and can be carried in your wallet and done at any time. S.O.S is basically a Ring Flight, but instead of the borrowed ring ending up on the usual bunch of keys, it is taped to the clip of your Sharpie! It looks great and again easy to make up and very practical. I can see a lot of people using this a lot! It ticks all the boxes and resets pretty instantly! Enveload is a simple solution to enable you to load a playing card, coin, ring or similar in to a sealed envelope without any fumbling. No wallets required and the system Ben has created makes it hard to miss. For those of who feel uncomfortable carrying around a bulky wallet which takes up valuable pocket space and looks old fashioned, this is an ideal solution. The gimmick can be made in two or three minutes and will last for a very long time! You can also use this if you are wearing something that doesn't have an inside pocket, or perhaps you're using the pocket for something else. This is very useful! Ben also shows how this gimmick evolved and shares an interesting variation that can loaded from your back pocket. Shadow is a smart utility device. It's very subtle, but can really strengthen some effects and turn them in to a miracle! There's a few effects I already do where this could make a big difference. essentially you show a sealed envelope which contains a prediction - this is done by shining a light (Ben uses the torch on his phone) behind it and you can clearly see that there is a card inside. Later this card/prediction impossibly matches a free choice that is made by a audience member and of course the envelope is shown otherwise empty. Ben teaches a great routine that uses this gimmick which is seriously powerful! SCTSW is listed as a bonus effect and is simple, but again very strong magic. A signed card appears inside a spectators wallet which has been on the table the entire time. This uses no gimmicks whatsoever and is completely impromptu. Very nicely constructed and the choreography covers all the dirty work, If you're a worker, you will use this! Stash is another simple utility device which I can see being very useful. It basically allows you to add-on card(s) (up to a small packet) on top of the deck, without any palming. It is easy, invisible and again simple to make. The add-on is covered by a natural action and will go right past everyone! If you have a use for this, I think you'll like this a lot. Ben even teaches a few effects to get you started. The other interesting thing about this, is you can also load cards in to the holdout during a routine, then perhaps get the cards shuffled, then retrieve the card later. You will have to palm a card if you want to load the gimmick during a routine, but if you just want to add cards on to the deck, it's practically self-working. Even if you don't intend to use any of the material on this download (which would surprise me), this should be a required watch for any magician. If you ever find yourself without your props, perhaps they have been lost or stolen (it happens!), a visit to a stationary shop and the knowledge on this download, would give you enough material for a close-up gig. How useful is that?? You never know when this could come in very handy indeed! Highly recommended! Iain. |

Just watched the first gimmick..;the balancing gimmick and was delighted. Very simple, extremely cheap, and I can see myself using it ALL THE TIME.
And he goes into painstaking detail about how to use the gimmick. If the rest of it is as good as this, I think I'm going to be pretty happy with the purchase.

Ther is nothing old fashioned about coat wallets. They are an accessory of the rich.
