Hi Everyone,
My kids and I are new to magic (reading lots of books and using lots of gimmicks right now, but we're having a blast with it) and I'm curious whether or not there is a general consensus as to what are deemed the best magic conference(s) and/or convention(s) around the country. I've ran across a couple postings (S.A.M. for example), but have no way of knowing if they're of much value, considering the price. If anyone has attended a conference or convention that they would recommend, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks in advance! Regards, sc0315 |

Welcome to you and your kids. The Magic Nook has a Calendar of Events to show you WHERE in the WORLD the conventions, events and lectures are taking place, and you can check them out in advance on-line... but that won't answer your question. My best advice for beginners is to take a chance, go to an event NEAR you that you can AFFORD and immerse yourselves in magic. Then come back here and let us know how you enjoyed and made the most of the experience. I think you'll have a blast at any one of them.

Thanks Jim! I look forward to checking out The Magic Nook. I'll let everyone know how it goes after we pick one and attend.

Thanks for posting the link to the magic nook. That link is very helpful. I have already found an upcoming local convention in my area that I had no idea about.

I have been to several of the large conventions and enjoyed them all. The bigger the convention, the bigger the dealer room, the more variety in the lectures and the bigger number of friends to meet. I also enjoy the smaller events. The lectures are just as amazing and I don’t feel as overwhelmed by the volume of magic I’m surrounded with. I find that the conventions inspire me to try new things and completely blow up my magic budget! Jim gave great advice. Try a bit of both styles and I bet you will like both.
