Hello peapole I have read a few a few threads on the forum about different jumbo 3 card monte props the mechanical versions. There are 2 versions which seem good the Dave Powell king monte and the to Ton Onosaka Giant monte. What are the pros and cons to each version? How close can the spectators be whitout any risk of flashing? Is lightning an issue? I appriciate the help.

I can't speak to Dave Powell's Jumbo apparatus with the Bicycle backs (which seems like a very desirable feature) because I've never handled one nor have I seen a set in live performance.

However, we do have two sets of the Ton Onosaka version and can unequivocally state it is a wonderful set that is reliable and easy to perform AND gets an enthusiastic response to the effect from all audiences. (The second set is a back-up. No, it's not for sale .

Lighting, angles, etc. don't seem to be an issue.
The audience can be close...

Yes...

I use a variation of Monte effects mainly Harry Anderson Monarch Monte for corporate shows and King Monte effect you mention for shows I need a few minutes of magic to music, I use a stand and some catchy music etc..always plays well. The key to the king monte is not to do lots of changes with the cards -King to Queen etc, most performers do 3-4 changes -I do 2 and the effect plays much stronger,I also use a stand for the cards..

Does anyone possess and use the Mikame craft Card Stand in conjunction with Ton's giant 3 card monte?

I recently purchased Dave Powell's 'King Monte' and then purchased a conductor's desk (the desk only) to hold/display the cards. The conductor's desk has a pivoting socket that is designed to be attached to a stand/tripod. I already own a variety of stands/tripods (photography hobby) but I also wanted to be able to use the desk atop a table. So, I simply added a short length of aluminum tubing and, voila, a conductor's desk that can be used on any flat surface. It's very stable!

I actually prefer the Garrett Thomas version over the mechanical versions. He has a jumbo set of cards available.
