Use four kings.
Use four coins to represent their countries.
The king of aces wanted to rule all four countries.
He seized the king of clubs after a violent battle and conquered his country.
Then he seized the king of hearts and conquered his country.
Finally, he seized the king of diamonds and conquered his country, the richest prize of all.
That is how the king of spades became emperor of four countries.

Are you up to doing an "across" before the assembly? That would give you more time to explain the premise...a coin if each realm..King of his castle ...etc.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Challenge: put a suit sticker on each coin so not only are the four cards different, but so are the coins.

Interesting. Suggestion about what stickers to use?

If you have a hole punch large enough, you could punch out a pip from a playing card, one for each of the 4 suits plus an extra. Make a sticker out of the pip with some double sided tape or a craft glue dot. I imagine you putting each coin suit under each matching Ace suit at the start. You'll need at least one extra sticker to stay one ahead, if you know what I mean. Might also need a DH coin.

You know where to find me if you want to discuss it without resorting to ****** and @#$%& talk.
