So you bought it, Iain, correct?
Jack Straw from Wichita, cut his buddy down
And dug for him a shallow grave, and laid his body down
Half a mile from Tucson, by the morning light
One man gone and another to go, my old buddy you're moving much too slow

How do you know the method without buying it?

According to Maddy, (and I quote), it's very clean and there's some clever thinking going on here.

You don't like clean methods and clever thinking?

I know that I do!

No.

I refuse to.

I don't fall for the stuff that goes on here anymore, especially when the thread is started by a 12 year old kid trying to sell his friend's badly misspelled and punctuated PDF with run-on sentences and rambling, out-of-order thoughts, and I don't trust people like Maddy anymore.

Nobody knows how to write well anymore, and usually PDF's like this are a nightmare for me to read.

I used to trust Maddy, just so you know, but he sunk himself, in my eyes.

I know without buying it that, once they "think" of the country, card, and city, I'm going to have to go on a fishing expedition that doesn't fit my style at all.

I don't like going fishing.

The peasants are revolting!

Iain, I read the 3.5 Utilities thread, and I couldn't help but notice that you said (and I'm paraphrasing, so correct me if I'm wrong) that you got a free copy, and you would not give a review because it would come across as having a positive bias.

So why now is our criticism of Maddy's positive review of something that he got for free unfair to both Maddy and Out Of The Country?

And just so you know, Iain, I don't necessarily distrust you or your opinions.

Where did I say the criticism was unfair?

Jack, with that charming attitude, I honestly have no idea why people don't solicit your reviews.

Maddys reviews are well thought out, and based on an experienced performers opinions.
His input has helped me make informed decisions many times.
One thing to disagree with someones opinion, but you went low.

I have to say that I had a look at this and thought it was very nice indeed. Especially if it was combined with Ben Harris's Silent Running.

All the best,

252life, maybe they don't solicit my reviews because they are afraid to.

I'm also not soliciting reviews.

Would you like to see me talk positively about something?

Here you go:

And here you go again:

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=218

I don't say much, because there's nothing much to say except "well done and I'm happy", and I actually paid money out of my pocket for the items that I'm talking positively about.

My main problems here are with pre-sales and those that outright lie about things, or talk cryptically and deceptively about the way things are performed.

It happens all the time.

I've fallen victim to all of those sales tactics often enough to be very wary now.

I know enough not to touch the edge of the stove while something is cooking now.

I've been around here long enough to know what goes on, believe me.

As I said before, I used to trust Maddy's opinion.

Not anymore.

Why can't I say that?

You trust his opinion.

That's fine by me.

There still are people here that I do absolutely trust.

I am also a performer, and after performing at a party at which I was an unpaid guest doing some magic, I was invited to teach magic to children at a school program where crafts and music and other things are taught on Saturday mornings.

I teach 3 classes each morning, and have up to 12 kids per class (each class is usually sold out, but not always), and all of the kids range from the ages of 8 to 12; each season is a twelve week course, and I do it twice a year at two different public schools in my area (and, oh my gosh, it's not Wichita!), and I've been doing it for over 10 years.

My season starts in 5 weeks, and I'm getting ready now.

The parents, the children and the women running the program (and they're all women!) absolutely love me.

I'm rated at the end of each season, and my ratings are always very high.

Do you have any idea how tough the children are to teach, and how critical the parents are after they spend their hard earned money on their children?

But my persona with them is much different than the way I am here.

This place has soured me, but yet, I'm still addicted to it.

I'm sure that I'm going to be slammed here and not be believed, but I don't care.

My yarbles are hung with steel cables and I'm not bothered by anything at all.

PS- Thanks for stopping that "252" stuff at the end of your posts.

PPS- I really do not want to keep going on about "Out of the Country" anymore, although I will keep reading this thread because it fascinates me.

I personally do not rate this effect . There are far better effects out there that achieve better results and Maddy ought to be called Muddy or Murky at least this days . It’s a shame as money talks but it wouldn’t with me . I used to love his reviews but If it’s rubbish I would tell you , Maddy only gives good reviews these days on basic everyday run of the mill old principles which is totally wrong !

Luke shared with me this effect a couple of months ago but only now I just had the time to read it carefully. I like this very much. And I liked the script very much. It is obviously very carefully crafted, and in fact, I took some ideas from the script to other effects I do Smile

I find this very clever overall

Edit: And by the way I just realized there are *8* bonus ideas on how to perform this effect.
