The name is 'Liquid Glass', Jim Steinmeyer designed it and William Kenndedy ( www.wkmagic.com ) is the exclusive builder of this piece.
It's based on Peter Warlock's Glass penetration, same effect but smaller - tabletop size. |

Owen Magic is the official builder of this illusion. It use to be on their website, but it is no longer displayed. Harry Blackstone Jr. toured with this penetration effect for many years. It is not new in any manner, and I do not believe Steinmeyer had anything to do with it creation.

Everything Bill said above is 100% false.
Willie Kennedy is the only authorized builder. When you purchase the illusion you pay rights to Steinmeyer. It's a really nice illision, I saw Rick Thomas perform it in Branson a few years ago. |

I don't have the article in front of me, but I do believe he references Owens as the builder. You may want to check out that article for some insight regarding that illusion. Mark

I just double checked Kennedy's website-
"I am the only authorized builder of the Liquid Glass illusion in the world. The price is $3,900.00 USD for the illusion, one ATA case it travels in, and the design rights to Jim Steinmeyer." |

Mark,
I will of course say that anything is possible and perhaps David got one through Owen somehow? I know David loves Owen props. |

Bill is 100% right that Blackstone Jr performed this. Not only did I see him perform it, I wanted to buy his actual one that came up for auction about 15 years ago. I regret not winning it.
This said Blackstone Jr's unit was Steinmeyer's adaptation and was built by William Kennedy. |

Good to know Frank. I should have been more clear, I didn't know if blackstone ever performed it or not.

It's actually an old effect that pre-dates Steinmeyer.
I read David Seebach's MUM article, and his follow-up article about this mini-stage illusion, and Bob Sherms built this sometimes back in the Thirties or Forties. That's not to say that Jim Steinmeyer didn't come up with some great improvements on this novel illusion. For what it's worth, I saw Blackstone Jr. perform this on one of his touring shows. Gerry |

I posted, because I actually went to a Blackstone Jr, show in a small town near Fort Wayne, Indiana many years ago. Then he performed it at an Abbott's Magic Get-To-Gether years later, in Colon, Michigan.
I will say the video referenced looks different then the Owen model, but it is the same effect and penetration with ribbon. Owen had it on their website, a few years ago, I just checked and it has been removed, so maybe they sold the rights to it. |

Bill, I'm not debating that you saw blackstone perform the illusion. Was it the same illusion built by Kennedy?
Or a similar effect built by Owen? I don't know if Owen built the same effect or one similar years ago... I just know that Kennedys website says he's the only authorized builder and that the cost of the illusion includes Steinmeyer fees. |

The original effect I believe is called Atomic Glass and is in the Sherms book. I believe Jim made vast improvements and released it under the title Liquid Glass.

Oh there we go... so yes that was a Kennedy built prop.
Wish you could have bought it, that would be really cool to own a prop from Blackstone. |

And Saturday I just received from Daryl's estate an Aldo Colombini book autographed by him to Daryl. They were two favorites of mine who I miss a great deal so that is a wonderful thing. |
