I live in the UK and just 37 minutes away from Central London.
Although I understand your concerns about having to carry a knife on you the restaurants are still serving You don’t really need to use a flip knife like shown in the video and I bet that with a little thought, one can perform the effect using a pen. Best regards, Titanas

A great update has been made to make the uniqueness of Backstab a little more clear. It is a card stab where you can spread ALL the cards. NO blocks, NO forces or dups, the card can be SIGNED and you can use a BORROWED knife or sharp object.

Awesome effect! Gets a great reaction. Can't believe that a knife is going to overshadow the potential of a very stronge effect like backstab. It's easy to do. Which allows you to concentrate on the presentation. Reset is automatic. Packs small plays big. No angle problems. Great Audience participation. What more do you want. Hats off to Zak Mirzadeh. Not only is he a great performer but a great speaker as well with a message everyone needs to hear. Can't wait to see what Zak brings to the table next.

Yep - I think this is a solid release. I understand the concern re. knives - and share them to some extent - but love some of the creative ideas above to get round this. I also think the gimmick actually allows you to do some pretty clever things which could be used in different (non stabbing!) effects - so definitely worth a look. You cannot carry a lock-knife of any size in the U.K. without good reason. I would suggest using the magic trick as an excuse may not convince the Police, but don’t take my word for it. I’d like to know more about the alternative methods as no one has mentioned them in detail. |

There is a similar version out there using a wine cork bottle opener. I think it was a french magician (because wine).

Would this work with a more pointed silverware knife?

After watching David’s review I see you need to use a very sharp knife.

I’m trying to fathom how you could present this without using a knife. Can someone explain?

If you want the same impact, sans knife, and with no gimmicks, look no further than Pit Hartling's FINGER FLICKER (from Card Fictions). And, yes, the spectator can do it.
It's all in the reflexes.

I have this but had a question which I did not want to post here, so posted in Secret Sessions. Now I need to get a knife , wonder if going out to by one is considered "essential" ???

I thought this had just come out? Anyway mine is on its way from Alakazam. I ordered a cool knife yesterday and it arrived today! Opened it up and took the cellophane off and it rebounded and stabbed my finger, really hurt an bled so be careful! It will go well with the trick though I will not be handing it out!

A knife will surely aid in keeping a distance of 1,5 m. 😄
Please check regularly if you are becoming the type of magician Jerry Seinfeld jokes about. (This applies to mentalists as well.)

Very irresponsible for U.K. stockists to be selling this. Especially sold to those who have no clue how to handle a knife.
