Hello!

I perform the classic PN routine like Slydini used to do it.

I have now switched to a variation of Aldo Colombini's proffesors math routine becuse of the restoration ending.

Both of them get the same good response.

Now the only thing I dislike about the aldo routine is that you can not do the count of the ropes which also acts as a strong convincer that the ropes really did stretch.

I also love the restoration phase of aldo's routine. So my question boils down to is the counting part of the PN necesary for the trick to be convincing or am I running when not being chased?

I perform both versions and both get great reactions. I like Colombini's version better for stand-up shows when I am not
handing the ropes out until the end. Colombini's version is great for those you have seen the original PNM. In normal walk
around shows I like to pass out all three ropes before beginning the routine.

You might also want to look at Whit Haydens Mongolan Pop knot.

Have a great day,

Hello Bob
I am awere of whits routine but I do like the ending for aldos routine better and the bonus of passing the rope out is great. When performing aldos version do you not feel a need to display that the ropes really are the same lenght and that there is nothing funny going on, trying not to expose anything.

I might be looking at th8s from the eyes of a magican to me some type of convincing subtelty feels necesary.

I think counting the ropes in PN is essential. I use two different counts in my routine.

Very entertaining performance pop. I did notice those counts. The only problem is that whith aldos method you cant do that. So there is a trade off weaker stretching of the ropes in aldos case or different restoration I love the aldo restoration bit it is very magical. And the rope is examinable after the effect.

Here is a link of aldo colombinis routine. The rope routine starts at https://www.google.se/url?12 minutes.sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DJYFySNiIlXg&ved=0ahUKEwjK7ZibgajcAhVDIMUKHR41BWkQwqsBCCIwAA&usg=AOvVaw0y6OGLOCYMA53jbw8qGvvC

When watching the video and doing it myself I get left whith a slightly unsetteling feeling becuse I want to see the ropes induvidually.

A normal cut and restored fools peapole they are sure that those ropes are induvidual ropes after all they saw the rope being cut.

So if the cut and restored works this essentially should also work since it is a double cut and restored.

When you do a normal PN routine you stretch the ropes the auidince get suprised but they want to see those ropes and once you count them they are truly convinced that something amazing happend. But if you do not count them which of course display them will they not thinck " wow that's cool but he probably has them folded or setup in some way that the ropes look like they are the same lenght. That is just logical thincking. Then when one counts the rope they get that relief.

Is not counting the ropes the same as doing a false tranfer whitout showing both hands?

I do not know if I am coming to the right conclusiin here maby someone whith more knowledge can point me in the right direktion on this one.

The late (deceased), well liked, and marvelous inventor of many magic effects, Aldo Colombini at L&L publishing.

This contains Aldo Colmgini's long rope routine.
