Wayne has over the last few years become arrogant and dismissive, I saw him at the Lads convention walking around with sunglasses on his head (whilst in-doors) like he was a rock star. I said hello to him and he just walked past me like I wasn’t there - I think he’s forgotten that he’s a magician and thinks he’s something he’s not. That however doesn’t take away from the fact that his new light/ heavy effect is clever and I think it’s a fun way to perform that type of effect. He’s a clever individual but bad news spreads quicker than good news and it would pay for him to learn this. Wayne if you’re reading this, go back to how you used to me.

Ok its interesting how you read views like this and cant seem to relate?....I converse with Wayne all the time on FB and find him relatively fast to respond. Now I admit he does take a while to send stuff out and often claims its 'already been sent' when its 10 days later and you miraculously get 'another one' a day later. Now theres several ways of reading into this? 1) firstly hes not sending out packages and is pretending he is and then he sends it last minute. 2) hes got one seriously crap postal service that loses packages 3) hes a busy working pro that probably doesn't realise that if someone orders somthing you send it out the NEXT day ...not a week later!!.....in other words hes a nieve dealer who doesn't have the understanding or knowledge of how to run an onlline business.
Now I'm going to give you all a piece of advice....it doesn't pay to play heavy or nasty with anyone in this game. And I have reason to say this. When everyone was calling out Dave Forrest for being this that and the other I played nice and patient and was very supportive.....well guess what Im probably one of the ONLY ones to have received there Cubism Maestro!!. Now I had an issue with Wayne but I approached him nicely and he 'sent out another one' Now I don't believe for a minute that he sent out two as he had no tracking numbers. So I 'politely' explained that if he didn't have tracking numbers then he didn't have a leg to stand on and amazingly I got my package THE NEXT DAY. So my point is this .....ive dealy with bad dealers and slow dealers and dealers that have caused delays but amazingly I ALWAYS get my products....ive dealt with OUTLAW effects no issue, TAO magic no issue, FULL 52 no issue, Wayne FOX no issue.....mmmm something tells me that the way you approach a problem is equally as important as the problem itself. I simply state my issue politely....sure ill get ******** back but I simply say 'yes your right you may have sent it already but as you don't have a tracking number you don't have a leg to stand on so please can you send another......now the reality is I may have never been sent one in the first place....but guess what ...I always get my packages!!!! Maybe guys the trick is to 'play nice but firm' as I believe the reason people don't get anywhere is because they get abusive and ****y and frankly the dealers involved think 'f**** em' Just a thought in this crazy world....maybe use some psychology??
May your darkness come quickly

I for one am always patient and understanding giving them the benefit of the doubt ,just to the point where there is no option other than to get tough , and one important thing to remember is, the seller pushes us to the point of no return. I understand that most of these people are full-time professionals with the huge travel schedule. Wayne is one who works very hard travels quite a bit.

Well drjohn, I was super patient and very nice. I truly understand, being a performer myself, how he must be busy and traveling etc. So I was more than patient and very nice in my correspondences for months which ended up turning into 2 years! As a matter of fact, I still wasn't mean in my very last email to him asking if he sent my package. I only posted my frustration here so others don't get the same treatment. I still have the email correspondences that show this. And Wayne followed the steps as you described, he first said it was sent......then after a month he said that the package must have got lost in the mail.....So I asked him to send the package with a tracking number and he has ignored me since.
Now, the item I bought was about $26.00. So I will live with the loss and feel it is not worth my time anymore to keep emailing him. After 2 years of trying to get a hold of him with no response, well let's just say I have ZERO respect for someone like that, whether it's a $100 item or $26.00 item, it's the principle that he obviously has no respect and lack of conscience and cares less in doing the right thing. Pretty sad on Wayne's part. Listen, we ALL have responsibilities and some of us too are super busy. But that doesn't give me a free pass to blow people off that have paid me money for something.

As I've saidbefore, if you're a working professional and offer your products, either take care of business or hire someone to do it for you. If neither of these options are doable, go through a dealer or get out of selling!,

I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

For what it is worth, I have ordered from Wayne directly twice in the past. The first time, I did not hear any updates or receive anything for two weeks, so I sent him a friendly email asking for an update and the next day a new one was shipped and arrived within a week. The next time I ordered from him it took a little less than a week to ship, but I did get a tracking number and it did arrive safely from across the pond with no issues. Sorry to hear others have had issues though - I know how frustrating that can be.

I learned something about fulfilling orders quickly. You may think a 2 man shop doesn't need a Fullfillment center because there are only 2 of you and how much could
you actually have to fulfill? A long time member here on the Café, Anton Nova gave me some unsolicited business advice and several dealings together. The first thing Anton told us that we needed to add a fulfillment center. We went from shipping in days to shipping in hours. Our usual turnaround time is 12-14 hours for shipping. In the late of night and early morning my brother and I would pack and ship by dropping orders as they came in, we were turning packages out and in night drop within minute to maybe a couple hours. When my niece came in during the morning she would take over. Things became a lot less stressful and a lot more organized. A shining example of customer handling is Brett Sherwood. I understand that he does A LOT of traveling on cruise ships. He has a wonderful fulfillment center and team. Just ask ANY of Brett's customers. This past week we ran over on our shipping fulfillment because I was out sick with the flu, but it was still filled and shipped within 48 hours and that incident only lasted a couple of days. It sounds like Wayne needs to take a step back and look at the "Fulfillment" of his products. If Wayne doesn't feel he needs one or doesn't want to be told how to run his business then it will all come to a screeching halt in sales. I'm not on here to say I know everything, but rather listen carefully to others like we listened to Anton Nova and his small suggestion on fulfillment. Thank you again Anton. -Jake Jr.

It doesn't have to be so adversarial. I have successfully ordered from creators before and when I do so I understand it may take a few days longer to ship than normal, but it still should be reasonable. And they should definitely respond to email in a timely manner. Two people in particular who have been wonderful to work with are Cameron Francis and David Jonathan -- I have never received stuff so quickly as I have from David. I would think creators make more profit when you order directly from them so they should make it a positive experience, otherwise you're going to go through a dealer or not buy at all.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding, though, but when you say you added a fulfillment center, are you referring to a physical location dedicated to shipping, or the extra help you received from your niece? Otherwise it sounds as though your two man operation (ie, you and your brother) handled everything both before and after. Still remember when everything mail order said, “Please allow 4-6 weeks for shipping.” Waiting in anticipation was just part of the experience. Then along came Amazon...
Now appearing nightly in my basement.

Maxfield,
yes we added a physical fulfillment center. It's nothing huge, but it organized our work flow. Before we did my brother and I handled everything. Something else Anton suggested was a Workflow app. We're currently using one from Adobe. That way each of knows what should be accomplished for that day.

I wonder what Dr John's Clients would say if they booked him for a Gig on 12th March and he turned up on 12th April At the end of the day he is another one that needs to decide if he wants to be a dealer or performer (I certainly would not call him a "Rock Star" even though the way he carries on looking stupid with the sun glasses on top of his head) if the later is the case he should pass the distrubution onto World Magic Shop or Murphy's at the end of the day this post is about Helping other Magicians and a warning that unless you want to wait for ages he is not a good person to deal with |
