I finally managed to take some time to build a flight-case drawer build to hold my close up material.
I like it very much obviously but would anyone be interested in buying something like this? and what would you think this is worth (the case, not the contents) Or other flightcases custom made to order Just some research to see if it would be worth offering them as a service. Kind regards Click here to view attached image. |

That is very unique, but from the looks of it, it is to big and heavy. Most drawer cases like this have a close up pad attached to the top surface, so the magic could be presented on the case.
Secondly, each case should only have the magic and supplies used for the act. I doubt very much if an act would consist of 8 decks of cards. For an hour close up show, 4 could be the limit. Don't want spectators thinking you are using all gimmicked playing cards for all your magic presentation. Have you road tested this case design, and performed table hopping with it? That should give you an idea if it practical for use. |

Well, I actually deliberately diddn't add a close up mat becouse now you can use your own (maybe custom, colour and material of your choice) mat and on the drawer that I used to have with a close up mat, the mat becamed damaged and dirty and is very difficult to replace.
It is rather heavy but in my opinion not too heavy (it's partial wood and partial astroboard wich is a lot lighter) and the inside is fully customisable to your own liking. it is pluk foam so you can make the inside cuts however you like for how many decks of cards,... of your choice. For me it works in real life, that's why I build it. |

I like the idea. My only observation is that it looks like you lose a few inches of storage at the "front" (side with the handle). Maybe its just the angle of the photo, but it looks like about 3" are "frame."

I have some feedback. You might not like it.
Looks like a case mostly for a bunch of decks. Considering that, it’s huge. Probably way too heavy too. So a 5lb+ case to carry 10 decks a pen and a few other items. Why so much padding? You’re not carrying glass props or a telescope. Magicians don’t need poke out padding except for the very very rare exception. And they would seek out a case for that specific item. What I’ve noticed over the years... Magicians fall in love with their “precious props” and obsess over how to rub, dust, care for them, organize and store them. They do this instead of practicing and rehearsing. To me this looks like a case that belongs to someone that worships their props (mostly decks) and wants to go into business selling similar cases to other prop worshipers. In a word, this case is overkill. I hope you find this more helpful than harsh.
