Yesterday at our spot as we were resetting a fellow came and stood in front of us waiting to watch our
next set, I presumed.
He did, with the others on the Promenade, but what caught my eye was his was lack of response, not
a smile or applause. No problem. The set ended, others left but he stayed, another set, same response, or
lack of. That set ended others left, not he.
Then another fellow joined him as we were resetting again the two stood there loudly talking magic. Not so
much ours, but tricks in general. I assume to let everyone within earshot know "we're magicians"
I was going to approach and ask the to discuss it a little farther away. But before I could my daughter Ling-Ling
did it! They gave her a bit of a look, and moved about 3 ft. away then left as we began our set.

I don't have a problem with other performers watching us at all, others have, and come over and say hello
and chatted with us.

But don't be the "tacky" magician. We're just out there to have a good time, spread a little joy, and make a buck or two.
You don't have to like us. that's not required. But don't be rude.

Sorry to hear that Nala. I always enjoy seeing Ling-Ling and your work. Hope this isn't a common occurrence

First time ever K_S_E, totally differnt today, as we were breaking down a gentleman in his mid sixtys
came over introduced himself as William, a former Magician from Alberta Canada and Magic Circle Member.
Very pleasant we had a nice conversation.

That is more the usual!

I wrote this 11 years ago (still a great memory):
"A couple of hours on the narrow main street in my hometown again. Great weather, great but small audiences. A truly great thing happened. I was beginning my little show when a young woman called out (in english) "Look, it´s magic! Come on!" And she brought a couple of people. A guy that was with her said "Great move!" in the middle my little flipstick routine. I started chatting with them and they said they came from Australia. After I was done the guy asked if I knew of any magic dealers here in Sweden, and if I could e-mail him their websites. Of course I could, so he gave me his business card. Hey! It was Tony Laffan! He is working on the cruiseship "Crown Princess" which is visiting Sweden right now, and now he lead a group of tourists coming to visit the town. That was so great, he was really nice and enthusiastic. Or a very good actor:) "

Classy guy!

That is very sad Nala. I always gravitate to magicians. Makes my wife angry. I may stay and watch a few sets. I will tell her to go shop. I will always introduce myself and chat after the crowd has dissipated. I never want to take the attention from them. It is their spotlight and their time to shine. I will applaud like or louder than everyone else because I appreciate a great experience whether magic, music, dance, comedy or even I want to be treated no differently. I am glad William was more the usual experience!
