What are your favorite "multi-phase" effects that require only 1 sleight or 1 control? Self-workers don't count.
I was just playing with Penetration (Marlo, The Cardician). It only requires 1 simple card sleight at the beginning and is a 3 card ambitious card "quickie" type effect. So, what's your favorite "multi-phase" type routine that only uses 1 sleight? I can't think of any that I currently use in my repertoire. |

A couple come to mind:
Master of Aces by John Graham in Apocalypse: I use this as my opener to a mini act of 7 routines around card cheating stuffs. There really isn't a "sleight" per se, but, it looks like you are a god of Cards. One Hand Control by Ed Marlo in The Cardician: I've long been a fan of Larry Jennings's Always Cut the Cards. However, in the original, you have to miscall two cards. It's still a fine effect but I wanted something more "open." I found this little beauty and it addresses the miscalling cards problem by NOT miscalling cards! The speccy places each ace onto the deck, each is cut one handed into the deck, yet, you recover each one rather magically. I guess there is one sleight if one thinks of a Charlier Cut as a sleight. It is done 4 times. As far as one control, they are legion and in fact you can jazz these. Just get familiar with a truck load of revelations and you're good to go. |

The popular Biddle Trick loosely fits the bill. With one sleight, you can first change 5 cards into 4, then reveal the selected card has disappeared, and finally reveal the selected card reversed in the middle of the deck.

I've always hoped this thread would gain more traction.
Any other recommendations? |

I wish it would gain more traction, too. Maybe it would help to loosen your requirement to "requiring at most two sleights"?

I think that the record holder for effects using one sleight is Tom Mullica's "Tomfoolery Transformation" utilizing fourteen "Buckle Counts".
Cheers!

Many of Cameron Francis's tricks are multi-phase, and he tends to use easy to easy-ish sleights. So that might be a good place to look.
Ultimate Faulty Followers, a successor to Vernon's Variant, has three phases. I haven't looked at it in a while, but I think it just uses packet DL's and Elmsley Counts. Lybrary.com has a lot of Francis's work, and they also have Ultimate F. F. |
