Did anyone has this trick that was performed by David Blaine on TV? Is the manuscript/trick worth buying?

Just curious, which version is worth buying? There are a few ripped off versions floating around.

I got it from the (I believe) originator...Anders Moden in Sweden. Paid via Paypal and got a PDF file in a couple of hours. Wonderful effect.

I, too, bought this direct from Anders - a very easy transaction via PayPal, and it came via a secured PDF file. For US$12, you could do a lot worse.
I see that Hank Lee is now selling it as well. It uses a deviously clever method (though I've yet to set it up to appear to be "impromptu," as David Blaine did). Good luck - Mark |

Heard from a source who bought the manuscript that the set-up is very difficult to prepare. Anyone care to comment on that?

Difficult??? Not hardly. If you can tie your shoes you can do it.

I also want this trick, I live in Canada and have no source for it here. I want the best one on the market wich seems to be Anders Modens. Does he have a site or an address and does he take money orders or International whatevers? I want this so bad I can taste it... If you have a contact address or something I greatly appriciate it.

I bought the original from Ander's through PayPall on his website. You can do the setup in two minutes. The trick only takes acting and very little skill, thats why David Baine can do it so easily.Always buy from the originator and not the rip offs.I haven't got the Tim Ellis presentation so I can't comment on that one.All in all it's a very strong effect and a easy one.

Hi people. I wonder if anyone is interested in a trade?
As Frank G wrote, there ARE some rip-offs floating around. When I first released my effect Healed and Sealed Soda after Blaine did it on Vertigo, it was because a pretend-to-be effect was sold on eBay only hours after the show. But this actually wasn't my effect where a empty and crushed soda can is uncrushed and sealed. I felt people were being ripped off so I made a PDF with all the tips and tricks I collected over the last five years. I hoped that the word would spread and those interested would find the source. But recently there was a booklet sold by many dealers called "Three Secrets Revealed" and one of the secrets was my Healed and Sealed, described pretty accurately, but very briefly on only one page. So now I printed a booklet myself which is distributed by Murphy's Magic Supplies to dealers. BUT, I would actually want to have one of the Three Secrets Revealed booklets for my own reference. As you can understand I don't actually want to buy one from a dealer myself. So I was wondering if someone who bought this would be interested in trading their used copy for my booklet? Please email me. |

Is there anywhere I can view this effect?
With such an over-the-top premise, it's hard to believe it could look as good, and be as practical as described. As for Blaines use of it on Vertigo, I just can't believe for a minute that it's so clean. But if it truly is, for goodness sake Anders, put a downloadable video out. That's the litmus test.

Guess I'm going to get this trick after hearing the overwhelming good responses from you guys.
The source who said that the set-up is difficult probably got a ripped-off version.

Healed and Sealed is as easy a setup as anyone could hope for. Impromptu.....a whole lot tougher but a few minutes away from everyone is all it should take to get ready if you know you are going to want to do it and have a few simple items with you. Then you could just walk into a crowd at a party and do the effect.
Thanks again Anders for sharing this with all of us for such a reasonable price. Ok....I did have one very small problem with this. It took a long time to print and used a lot of ink as each page was full color. Looks good when done but a bit of overkill and not necessary. Like I said it is a small complaint and a one time problem. Barry Gitelson

It is a great item.
Actually most people I've spoken with that use it and saw Blaine do it on the show (i didn't see it) have told me he did it quite badly and that he could have made it much stronger. The trick is just unbelievably great looking. I bought it directly of Anders after I saw him do it live at a convention last year and I am still very happy with that buy. / Karl Berseus

For those who haven't seen it, the effect looks incredibly clean. I saw Tim Ellis lecture a few months ago, and it was absolutely stunning.
There is some preparation involved, but if you carry two small items with you, you'll have no problem preparing a can in an impromptu situation (it just requires a few minutes in a bathroom stall). This is NOT an effect for a restaurant/walkaround worker, though it could be reserved for a special table as a one-off. I'm not aware of any video available for it, but the working is as clean as it is written: you hold a crushed can at your fingertips. Slowly, the dents push out and the can un-crushes. The can is seen to be open throughout the whole procedure. When the can has fully un-crushed, the performer turns it upside down to show once again that it is empty, then blows on the opening to reseal it. The magician then states that the can will refill itself. He pops the top -- you hear the pressurized air being released -- and pours himself a drink. You or an audience member can drink the soda, and the can can be handed out if you wish. There is a very small chance that someone, upon examining the can, will discover the preparation. However, it's practically impossible to reconstruct any part of the effect from that. David Blaine's performance of the effect was rather mediocre. He almost entirely skipped the most incredible and convincing part of the effect -- the uncrushing. If you have a chance, see Tim Ellis perform it. He does a fantastic job with it. Tim Trono recently announced that Murphy's will be distributing the "Healed and Sealed" manuscript, so it should be available from your local shop in the near future. Anders also sells it (I believe a link has already been given to his site) and you can purchase Tim Ellis's notes from him http://www.magicunlimited.com -Jim Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On 2002-07-18 20:26, Platt wrote: As for Blaines use of it on Vertigo, I just can't believe for a minute that it's so clean. That's the litmus test. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One thing to note about Blaine's performance -- the effect does require a prepared can, so you won't be able to just go up to some random person, take a crushed, empty can from them and perform the effect. That is, unless you're able to switch the two cans, and you've prepared a can of the same drink as the person you approach. Tim Ellis & Sue Anne Webster have a fantastic way of switching the cans that comepletly fooled me, even though I was looking for a switch of some kind, but it requires two people and a bit of acting. Best way to do it is casually at a relaxed moment. -Jim
