I am currently developing a short routine eventually for walk around/small close-up shows for friends and family. What I am thinking is this:
- Silk production/vanish "Well, I actually don't have anything to do magic with... oh! I can use this piece of fuzz off your shirt" - Key card with false reveal and color change - Jokers Sandwich (selected card ends up in between two jokers that were in the audience's hand) - 3 Fly - Coin Bite - Bill Tube - Voodoo Ash What do you think? Do you think these effects will progress well and will work well with each other? |

Why don't you go to the park and try it out? That will tell you more than by posting it here as a question for strangers who (likely) will never see you in action to answer.

Quote: I've not really built up my confidence yet. It has been a long time since I've done magic, and this time I'm trying to get my skills really honed. Just was curious if anyone could forsee any issues or had suggestions.

Don't wait until you have the whole act together- test each part separately and then but two or three together until you are finally performing the entire act. In walk-around, you have to hold the audience by being good, or they walk away leaving you talking to the trees. Gather up your courage and be brave. You have to start somewhere or you might as well quit.

OK...Here I am again.
First, you GOTTA learn the correct terminology! The EFFECT, IS WHAT THE SPECTATOR(S) PERCEIVE(S). No more, no less! You can BUY a PROP, and/or a SECRET. Using the PROP, and/or the SECRET, you can PERFORM a TRICK. (You CANNOT BUY A TRICK, OR EFFECT EITHER!!!!!!!) A TRICK, SOMEWHAT LIKE MUSIC, EXISTS ONLY WHILE IT IS BEING PERFORMED. If you PERFORM the TRICK WELL, WITH A GOOD P R E S E N T A T I ON N, it's possible that you will ENTERTAIN people. MAGIC IS >NOT< INHERENTLY ENTERTAINING. IT'S YOUR PRESENTATION THAT MAKES THE PERFORMANCE ENTERTAINING! (My mentors always said, "It aint WHAT ya do, it's HOW YA do it." You know how a few tricks are DONE. you know how to DO them. The challenge, now, is LEARNING HOW TO DO THEM SO THAT THEY ENTERTAIN PEOPLE! Whether those tricks will work well, progress well and ENTERTAIN people, I cannot possibly tell you. If I could watch you do them, I could probably make some positive suggestions. I THINK that you should select one or two of the tricks that you list, and, concentrate on them. When you have gotten to "#3" with them, try them out on your friends. Then, do the same thing with two more. Sophocles said, "One learns by DOING the thing." The ancient Romans had a WISE SAYING: "FESTINA LENTE"! (Make haste slowly!) Those old guys knew what they were saying!!!!! Ken Weber retired from performing, a few years ago, and wrote a book on SHOWMANSHIP. It's "up to date". If I recall, it's called. "Making Magic Entertaining". It's about $40.00. He tells it "like it is"! I can't teach you anything! I can only help you learn, 'cuz learning is an ACTIVE process. My guiding star has been, since I started out: K I S M I F. (Keep It SIMPLE - Make It FUN!) I wrote up my CRITERIA for selecting tricks and/or routines to perform, in my book. Send me your mailing address, and I'll pull a copy, and, mail it, I don't feel like typing another whole page!
