Probably best that you stay away from my books too - you'd probably find them difficult to understand.

Thanks for chiming in, Harry.

There's a fascinating interview with Mr Harry Lorayne, discussing his thoughts on playing cards and some background about how he got into card magic, over on the PCD blog here:

This is slightly off-topic, but not entirely. I've found Daryl's Encyclopedia of Card Magic DVD's invaluable. Daryl tends to go a bit fast, but, his videos, like Giobbi's, form a great complement to written descriptions of sleights. And, like Giobbi, he's charming. (Each in his own, very different way.)

Like TeddyBoy, I appreciate Giobbi's thorough, academic style. Another resource, if it's detail you want, is Ian Kendall's work on sleights. Basic Training ebook, and videos on palming, top change, basic coin magic, etc., all (or most?) available on Lybrary.com. Both the book and the videos are slow, *very* detailed, and precise. As a result, reading/watching takes patience and commitment on the part of the reader or viewer, but your careful reading or viewing will be well rewarded.

Bob is absolutely correct about BASIC TRAINING. Ian is perhaps the best step-by-step instructor that I have seen in print. This is especially a useful source if you are also into coins as his ebook deals with both.
So many sleights...so little time.
Cheers,

Ted

So glad you found this useful, TeddyBoy. Kendall's work doesn't have the vast scope of Giobbi's, but -- and I wouldn't thought this possible -- Kendall is even more helpfully detailed than Giobbi.
