Hello all,
I'm thinking of an effect where magical writing appears on a piece of paper - without the application of heat. That is, I would write an invisible message on a piece of paper beforehand, and then the writing will appear later on, as though written by a ghost. Does such a thing exist? If so, can someone point me in the right direction.

Going back to those science is fun books I read as a kid lemon juice or milk will do the trick, but you have to apply heat to the paper in order for it to appear.
Something else to consider is the old ash trick found in Tarbell I. Not exactly what you are looking for but similar results. Take Care |

http://www.jewelpro.com/boo/stuff.html "MESSAGES" took over five years to create and perfect. Just imagine taking a blank piece of paper, laying it on the table and then slowly a "Ghost Message" begins to appear in blue ink before everyone's eyes. (You don't touch it again after you lay it on the table.) $50 Bob |

Depending on how close you are there is a simple chemical reaction wtih pH indication solution on paper and an easy to obtain household cleaning item-stinky but not really dangerous- vapors, but the odor can be noticable-(I water mine down a bit, ) Not good for a close up, but not too bad out of doors, or at distance, (I spray white paper roses with my water spritzer, and they become pink to red), fading back to white---ghostly apparitions that, when fed the right type of "water" are returned to a lifelike state, or so one might think...Bwa ha haaaa!

Why not use heat?
Be creative on the heat source so it is hidden... |
