I want to add a stage comedy rope escape tied to chair where audience members help. which should I go for. You should look into quick in and out ties. Check out Glen Bishop's(on the Café) web site of his father comedy tied in a chair routine. You can learn about this type of tie in the new Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks: Slick Tie. Mark Wilson's Complete Course has a slight modification of this. The Kellar rope tie(done behind your back, not to a chair) is a in/out tie: see Fulve's Self Working Rope, Daryls Expert Rope Magic(vol 2), Enc of Rope Tricks, Tarbel(Vol 6) The Gysel Spirit Tie (arms tied behind back), can be used as above too. Tarbell(vol 6), Fulve's, Daryl's, and Enc of Rope Tricks enjoy

Those are great, if you use an assistant.
Doing it as a challenge, is another thing. A couple of weeks ago I had a gig, where I did straitjacket, 75' rope, 50' garden hose, and 100' extension cord. What a hoot! The more they did, the easier it got.

Several years ago, there was a TV escape special. One of the performers did a chair tie. He used a soft rope about an inch or so in diameter (and thus almost impossible to tie into a knot). The silly part was that this rope almost fell off him when he relaxed after being tied. Then he thrashed around on the floor pretending that he was having difficulty escaping.

Guys I am not saying you are all wrong about safety ...... BUT and hold on to those little fellas ……….. My brother in law had a twisted testicle. Apparently it is agony …………… don’t get one!
Either by doing an escape (I’m off to buy a cup this weekend ready for my next gig) or the way he got one …………………………………… He simply went to sleep in bed one night and work up at 3 am in pain. So pleased be warned!” sleeping is dangerous as well! ARGHHH!!! And he is married so has a partner that didn’t help him! And I should point out he was JUST asleep! |
