This looks very clever but I’m curious how you justify such a strange looking, one coin holder/casket? How does this not come off as a puzzle?
When the spectator asks you to divine heads/tails without putting the coin in the little brass thing (or without touching it), what do you say?

Genuinely looking for justification because this appears ingenious AF.

They don’t if your presentation skills are there, if you present it as a puzzle you are presenting it wrong imo.
It’s like producing a spectators signed card from your wallet, how many times have you heard your spectator say I bet you couldn’t produce it from mine?
The answer is they never do and never ever will and not with this prop either. Olly

I agree with Olly here, I don't think you have to "justify" anything, just like you don't have to justify an Okito Coin Box, or something like that. Smile Specs won't ask you that question, not if you present the trick the right ways. Smile

Plus, the Coin Casket comes with a few ways to magically present the effect, and I'm sure there are many other ways out there as well. Smile But you're right about one thing Scott, it is quite "ingenious!" Smile

Haha, Okito boxes are weird too! I like them and they get a pass from me because it is usually obvious there is so much more sleight of hand at play in a routine like that.

I guess I’m asking what are the magical ways this can be presented? The only apparent purpose of the casket seems to be to shield the coin from view – which can be done in so many other ways! Maybe I need to see this performed to understand.

Hi Scott:

My "Press the Flesh" routine is serving me well and the premise helps with the "why". Browsers's is also selling this and Jeff H. has a nice presentation he is using for it. Might be worth checking out.

Cheers,

There is nothing weird about Okito boxes. According to research, an Okito box was an old "Pill Box". I remember my father used to engrave the lids with people's names ie. "John Does Pills"
When I take out my Okito box I dump out some a few Aspirins and produce coins one by one and then onto my routine.

I don't believe in "Justifying" any of my props. How do you justify a hot rod, chop cup, cups & balls etc. Simple, you don't. Same goes with the coin casket.

Kindest Regards,

There is a section on the routine sheet called "Short Changed". It explains how to get out of the exact situation.

Scott, in my routine with it, the coin was my friends lucky coin and it was the box he carried it in.

That’s good. Just the kind of thing I was getting at with my original question.

My good friend and wood artisan Eric Hansen has crafted some beautiful nesting wooden boxes as an alternative for my Press the Flesh routine. Jake may have a few sets available in the near future.

John and Jake,

Interested in John's routine. I know that one can just purchase the routine (I already have the Casket), but do I need any other items in order to fully present the routine - and if so, can I purchase those without purchasing another Brass Casket?

Also, what is the "coin light" to which Mark is referring? Did I miss that in this thread?

Thanks.

Hi rosariorose9:

Yes Jake sells the extra items needed separately as well. I refer to the Coin Light in the routine and it is available separately from SEO magic. Hope that helps.

Hi rosariorose9,
There are 3 things you need to add to the Casket, the mini Briefcase, Clear container and the Press The Flesh routine.
All are sold separately on our website on the front page.

Thanks for asking.

Thanks, John. I assume that all I will need to order from Jake are the briefcase and the clear plastic coin case. Am I correct?
