Hi everyone,
Been a lurker for several years, but thought I would review Copeprfield's show, as he indicated it was new. I saw him this last Saturday at MGM with his Alien Blu 32 / father routine. Happy to review, but perhaps it is not in fact new and he just says that? Let me know, and happy to give a review of the show and various effects. Highlight for me was the appearance of a UFO, a great effect and illusion. My 12 year old son who practices close up magic was blown away. Josh |

Well.... it's certainly new compared to the Moto Shadow Box that he uses to open the show!

I saw it at least 2 years ago, so not that new.

I've seen versions of it for 4 years I think? But the first time I saw it there was no ufo and it was wayyyyy more drawn out and more silly less emotional / love driven.
It's still a bit drawn out, but the payoff is better. The ufo is amazing but his show is a whole lot of making things appear. Motorcycle, antique Car, Ufo, and the finale are all major appearance tricks. Add to that the duck bucket and the audience lev. Both have appearances as part of the effect and what you have left is some mind reading, floating rose, and squeeze box. still a great show of course! I See it every chance I get. |

I've seen him twice over the past few years. Same line-up. I like the dinosaur (with its roar) as a closer, and I'm thrilled that he's still doing the Floating Rose. I'd like to see him retire the alien bit. As cool as the UFO looks, the rest if just silly. Lottery / car appearance is still incredible, especially if you go to the show with a layman.
I'd LOVE for him to open with the elevator again, and to close with Flying. |

After seeing this bit several times over the years, what I would say is the whole thing just needs to be condensed and shortened by alot. Don't try to make the alien funny, don't try to make it overly-emotional either. The alien is a gift from David's father, he wants to go home, David helps him go home and the alien gives him a "Time Stone" as a gift so David gets to see his father. That's enough.
The prediction stuff during the alien bit isn't really very strong and he already does the lotto prediction. All the dirty jokes with the alien make me cringe more than laugh. And yes... I wish so much that David would bring back the Elevator. It would be really cool if he could rig it so it descends in the middle of the theatre too.... would be such a neat opening. |

For me the "Flying-Illusion" was the highlight as the end of the show. Unfortunately I don't know the current show because Las Vegas isn't just around the corner.
Has anyone ever seen the "One-Illusion" live? It was the opener of the Tornado Of Fire TV-special. On TV this looked incredible and I'm interested in how you experienced it live. |

I saw "one" performed live a couple times. It was the same live as on tv, just not as brightly lit.
They did lighting and projections on the curtain when it was up in the air, it made the curtain look like a production element and not like part of a magic prop. The way the curtain came down and lifted up really made the whole thing look impossible. |

David Copperfield just tweeted out he is using Blu32 merchandise to raise money for Project Magic. Interesting idea that an illusion can launch a brand.
