Hi all - perhaps you can help me. I'm having a huge issue (similar to that stated above) of the thread "tangling." I've tried to make it as tight as I can as Jeremie Leroi mentioned. Perhaps I'm not doing something wrong in set up? I've watched the video several times. LOVE the effect and am determined to work it out.

When you purchase the physical item for $49, does it also include the pdf instructions?

After reading this thread and having my question answered, here’s a few issues I have with this product.
I don’t begrudge Javi for selling his method for Gypsy Thread for $50, I like the method. For me, it’s the way it’s being sold and what you receive for your money. This product is being sold at Ellusionist and Hocus Pocus, which is where I saw it first. The ad copy is the same on both. It says Javi will take you through a tutorial, but doesn’t say what form that tutorial is. After reading this thread, I’d have to say that copy is disingenuous. It should have been stated what form the tutorial is. A few have stated they had issues understanding some of the instruction on the tutorial and had to contact Javi for clarification. Which brings me to my question about the pdf. Considering the price of this item, this 14 page pdf of instructions should have also been included with the video. I suspect it would have filled in some of the gaps missing on the video and given the buyer a more solid form of instruction to have. Peter Samelson’s take on Gypsy Thread, Heartstrings sells for $60, but it’s a first class product. I wish Javi had taken a page out of Peter’s book.

Does anyone know where the candy can be purchased? I know he recently put it up on his website, but the oversea prices are super expensive.

Fot this I recieved 2 spools of thread and 2 blocks of "dust". Also, the pdf of the routine that tells how to make the dust block. I never got a single video of explanation. I emailed Javi and he kindly sent me the videos, but there are no instructions for using the blocks of dust which are half pink and halsf white. What on earth is that about? I again emailed Javi but still have not received and answer. Even though it cost me a lot more than the $50 offered in the USA which I never knew about until after I purchased it from the source, I still feel it is worth it if it indeed has the effect demonstrated. But does anayone know how to prepare the dust and why pink/white? |

The candy that the dust is made from is pink and white, just cut off the pink sections.

"This Mike Wong regarding Dragon Thread! Regarding the Max Landono routine, I have streamlined the handleing and made some changes in the way the thread is handled. 2 major changes. 1. I don't use wax. It makes the thread look old and dirty. 2. I don't break up the thread into small pieces in the beginning. I use long pieces and do the breaking during the performance. The audience can hear see the thread being broken. I first learn the routine from Mel Anderson in Portland, Oregon in 1974. At that time, I had not heard of Max and his routine. Throught out the years, I have made modifications to the way it was taugh to me by Mel Anderson. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about Dragon Thread. Did anybody found a alternative to the thread Javi is using?
Iam ordering thread like crazy and will let you know if I find something. Maybe somebody already found the right one. The ones I had are either too thick or too thin. So the thread ball becomes to big or it doesn’t stick enough when rolled together. |

ArtIn : I am stripping down a 10 mm cotton rope into its single threads producing easy to break threads while at the same time being sticky in the right way when rolled together. Depending on the performance situation I use a yellow Stabilo Boss to make them better visible. My favourite way to perform this
is by Gaetan Bloom as his handling lets you open all fingers and show them empty during performace a big plus that other styles don't offer. |

I am interested in this and found that Ellusionist and Hocus Pocus no longer sell it and Javi's site was down. I contacted Javi to let him know and it's now up, and you can see that he now has some additional options as to how he's packaging everything. You can get the PDF, the video, and the props in a package, and you can also purchase the video and PDF without props to access the routine immediately.

I was hunting and hunting and hunting (for the candy/powder substitute), found this DIY version. Disclaimer, I haven't recreated this myself, but this lady has several methods posted on her channel. Looks like a decent substitute.
