Hey fellas,
To those who may feel that lay people know nothing about Stripper Decks, I beg to differ. Stripper Decks are sold to lay people quite a lot - mostly thru advertising it as a deck to help win gambling by helping with card control. I have seen such decks being sold in PUBLIC shops (around Asia) for around $1 (cheap deck versions, not Bikes guys). Furthermore, most children's 'Magic Kits' have a Stripper Deck (that, or Svengali) so the knowledge of the Stripper Deck diffuses to the public even more! I have performed for people who request to see my deck and they ask me if it is stripped or tapered (thankfully, the one I was using wasn't!). We have to face the reality, lay people DO know a thing or 2...better to take the extra step of caution. Take care, Logan

Check out the "Line-Lo" Card Cutter on Hocus-Pocus and Stevens web sites. I think they are also listed at notanothercardtrick.com.
This cutter is designed for the individual magician who wants to work with different types of cut cards. It comeswith templates for narrow, short, edge strippers, end strippers, and belly strippers. An instructional video is also available. The manufacturer is a friend of mine but I have no financial interest in the cutter at all. Van

It all depends on how fast a crowd you are performing for. Here in Texas, the home of Texas Hold 'em, I have often had people check for stripper decks. That's why I don't use the depot items.

I regularly get checked for stripper decks by audiences in restaurants. Like the so-called DeKraam deck (being sold by Magic Masters), which is the Leslie deck of readers, I won't use them in strolling performances and more. When a group of 30 high school kids start calling off the names of the cards from a DeKraam deck and doing a twist check for strippers, it's time to move on to something else for a while.
On stage, it's a bit different as you can control the one or two volunteers more easily, especially using the reverse throw off where, in supposedly rversing a card, you are actually righting it. PM me for details if you can't connect the dots on that one - it's a great throw-off for the "wise" ones. Lee Darrow, C.H.
